Job Description
We are working with $5 Billion global leader in advanced engineering solutions with a location in the Cleveland, Ohio area (Newburgh Heights, OH) in need of a Sr. EHS Specialist. This is a 1,000 person heavy manufacturing operation and the role will have responsibility over a 250 person area with a focus on health and safety. The is a part of a 5 person EHS team - 2 environmental, 2 safety and 1 manager. ***Local candidates only please***
Under the direction of the EHS Manager, this position is responsible for determining, planning, coordinating, scheduling, and directing environmental, health, and safety activities to ensure compliance to regulatory agencies, complement the EHS management system, and protect human health and the environment. This position does not directly supervise other personnel. The incumbent communicates continually with all levels of personnel across all departments at Cleveland Operations. Externally, they communicate with OSHA, contractors, and compliance agencies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing, coaching, leading, and motivating plant personnel to achieve the Howmet EHS goals and objectives and continuously improve.
- Assisting in the planning, directing, and coordination of EHS compliance activities through functional teams, the Director of Operations, and other EHS Department personnel.
- Acting as liaison between local manufacturing and maintenance organizations to assist in executing those groups strategic and tactical EHS plans.
Basic Qualifications
For this position to be successful, the candidate should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in safety or environmental science, industrial hygiene, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 3-5 years of EHS experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications
For this position to be successful, preference is given to candidates with:
- A Master’s degree in an EHS related field from an accredited institution.
- 5 or more years of EHS experience within a heavy manufacturing environment.
- EHS related accreditations, such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM
Our client offers a base salary in the $75-100K range based on experience and credentials, bonus, 401K w/6% match + additional 3% contribution, benefits from the 1st day of hire.
