Summary Description:
The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs and proper handling and shipping of product according to regulations.

Duties:
- Lead production and EHS with safety and compliance audits and inspections related to safety, health, environment, and physical security.
- Determine chemical and physical hazards; devise Job Hazard Analysis for tasks.
- Update Safety and Health programs; determining programmatic gaps and developing written programs to maintain compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Develop and conduct training to maintain compliance.
- Identify areas for process improvements; assist in driving, supporting and implementing those improvements.
- Maintain the Hazard Communication Program (safety data sheets, labels, signage, etc.)
- Manage recordkeeping requirements.
- Provide EHS expertise in facility Kaizen events.
- Provide EHS expertise in daily production meetings.
- Facilitate / Lead safety teams and the safety committee.
- Work closely with management to resolve issues regarding EHS
- Any other duties assigned by the EHS Manager
Education:
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Compliance, or similar field; Plus 5 years’ experience in EHS, or equivalent

- Must possess excellent communication skill and interpersonal skills.
- Must be goal oriented and be able to work well under pressure and succeed within a competitive environment.
- Must demonstrate good judgment.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to present in front of small / large groups.
- Must have experience with organizing and analyzing significant amounts of information in a short period of time.
- Experience with OSHA, EPA, FDA (GMP), and / or DOT requirements.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, 5S a plus.
- Knowledge of physical security is a plus.
- Strong computer skills are necessary including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Able to work flexible hours – on call.
- Strong process orientation: Detail oriented, logical, and methodological approach to problem solving. Ability to read, analyze and interpret detailed drawings, models, and technical procedures and deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
- Bilingual is a plus
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see and use repetitive motions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and or move up to 30 pounds of material, boxes, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten and or typed material and must have the ability to focus.
