Job Description
A chemical manufacturer is looking for anEHS Specialist to support the Site Manager in ensuring EHS compliance and fostering local team engagement for EHS excellence. This full-time onsite role reports to the Plant Manager.
EHS Specialist Responsibilities
- Develop, improve, and implement EHS/waste management systems, procedures, and tracking tools for compliance.
- Conduct periodic assessments to identify gaps in EHS and waste management, proposing and implementing solutions.
- Drive Management of Change (MOC) culture, process, and procedures.
- Implement ISO 14000 and 45000 when applicable, coordinating with other functions and conducting EHS audits.
- Support Site Manager in developing and tracking EHS/waste KPIs.
- Complete internal and external EHS/Waste reporting.
- Lead or support incident investigations.
- Support site team in EHS/waste aspects of capex design and execution.
- Embed site and company guidelines, standards, and programs for EHS and waste management.
- Propose and deliver EHS/waste management training.
- Actively contribute to site functional initiatives.
EHS Specialist Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred: safety, environmental, health, chemistry).
- 5-7 years of experience in an equivalent role in a chemical plant.
- Proven experience in EHS/waste management, ISO, OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, GHS classification, RCRA standards and regulations.
- OSHA 30/First Aid/ISO trained (Preferred).
- Effective time management, prioritization, and resource management skills.
- Capacity and willingness to learn and transfer knowledge.
- Ability to interface with customers, suppliers, and regulatory officials.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to inspire others towards EHS/waste management excellence.

Working Conditions:
This role operates in a manufacturing and office environment, using standard office equipment. Some work may involve exposure to loud noises or fumes. Must collaborate with officials, plant managers, and employees. Physical requirements include occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or wearing PPE. Successful candidates must pass a Department of Homeland Security background check, pre-placement physical (including respirator), and pre-employment drug screen.
