Dispatcher

Job description

We are looking for a reliable Dispatcher to act as a communication point between customers and drivers for emergency and non-emergency calls. Computer skills is a must as calls are computer dispatched and computer logged.

Candidate must be primarily an excellent communicator and confident in speaking to coworkers and customers. Must be able to remain calm and composed, especially in emergency situations. Multi-tasking is a must as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision. The goal is to enable different parties to communicate well by ensuring the accurate and timely transmission of information. Will train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information as well as dispatch in timely manner
• Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions
• Receive and dispatch customer services to drivers
• Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance
• Use radio, phone or computer to dispatch vehicles or other field units to appropriate locations
• Monitor the route and status of field units to coordinate and prioritize their schedule
• Provide drivers with information about orders, traffic, obstacles and requirements
• Enter data in computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities and other information

Skills

• Proven experience as dispatcher or relevant position is a plus
• Computer knowledge and typing skills required
• Fast typing with experience in data entry is a plus
• Knowledge of procedures and guideline for emergency situations
• Proficient in English (oral and written)
• Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities
• Active listener with excellent communication skills
• Sound judgement, critical thinking and common sense required
• Customer service is a priority

Shifts vary and must be able to work weekends, swing, and day shifts. Shift hours vary between the hours of 7am to 10 pm, with shifts starting at 7am or 3pm.

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time

Salary: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
