The role of Director, Strategy and Portfolio Governance - International Americas will own and drive critical elements of both Sysco's International Americas end-to-end strategic planning process and the portfolio management process to ensure the most pertinent initiatives which will enable the business to deliver on its strategic plan are identified, resourced, and achieve their desired results.

Strategic Planning: The transformation agenda is Sysco's strategic plan. This role will support the Vice President, Strategy and Portfolio Governance, in leading the process and routines which adapt and define the strategic plan across International Americas. The Director, Strategy and Portfolio Governance will work closely with the President of International Americas, alongside finance, functions, and business units to craft components of the strategic plan and ensure that we are making the progress necessary to achieve our goals. Working with transformation initiative leads and cross-functional partners, the Director will support the monthly interaction with the International Americas Leadership Team and quarterly interaction with the Executive Leadership Team to discuss progress against our strategic initiatives.

Portfolio Management and Stage Gate Process: Sysco has embarked upon a transformational journey. Success of the transformation requires the identification of growth opportunities and a process which ensures those opportunities are aligned, prioritized, and sequenced to drive optimal value. This role will be accountable for managing a subset of core initiatives through the portfolio management and stage gate process to fuel the alignment, prioritization, and value creation sequencing for the enterprise. The Director will be a player/coach and lead cross-functional teams across every function and business unit to optimize the International Americas transformation portfolio. This team will make the complex simple for Sysco.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead key aspects of the strategic planning process; ensuring integration with functional and business timelines and processes.

  • Lead multiple analytical workstreams - identify and deconstruct business issues, and develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analyses and solve critical business issues with minimal oversight from project leaders.

  • Support creation and identification of competitive advantages that Sysco can leverage globally (i.e. between the U.S. and International American markets).

  • Manage core initiatives through the portfolio management and stage gate process to fuel the alignment, prioritization, and value creation sequencing for the enterprise.

  • Drive the execution of program plans to propel Sysco's Transformation agenda.

  • In conjunction with transformation leads and finance team, develop set of KPI's and on-going process to manage data flow to measure performance versus stated objectives.

  • Develop and build analytical models that bring together multiple data sources to drive root cause analysis.

  • Work with transformation leads and technology team to develop holistic mapping of interdependencies across enterprise and facilitate global trade-off discussions.

  • Create and manage integrated project timelines with a focus on driving teams to the most important tasks that deliver value for Sysco.

  • Identify and deconstruct business issues and develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analyses and guide teammate analyses.

  • Exhibit ownership of a domain and white space roadmap of capabilities to be created in that domain.

  • Discover gaps and scope to solve

  • Awareness of Enterprise-wide initiatives and their relationship with the problem at hand

  • Organize facts and insights from data into deliverables that inform or persuade. Design and present alone to Executive level

  • Support in creating presentations for key members of the International Americas Leadership Team

  • Demonstrate strong leadership and significant influence management skills with the ability to gain credibility with Sr Leadership while challenging the status quo

  • Define best practices and sets the standards for problem solving and strategic thinking across Sysco

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree (MBA) preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience working in a management consulting position, strategic planning and\or portfolio management roles.

  • A highly analytical, motivated, decisive thought leader

  • Strategic mindset with an ability to think broadly, refine questions, and develop analytical frameworks.

  • Thinks and acts proactively rather than reactively and directs resources and stakeholders accordingly.

  • High Emotional Intelligence with strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Wholesale food distribution, retail or consumer packaged goods industry experience a significant advantage.

  • Outstanding project management skills

  • Expert in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
