Art Director

Family Legacy Missions International is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Art Director to lead the marketing and communications team in Dallas and execute on the ministry’s goals and strategic plan. What You’ll Be Doing:

Under the leadership of the VP, Brand and Engagement, the Art Director will develop and execute the brand strategy by delivering compelling messages across channels. There will be significant collaboration with our marketing team in Zambia, as well as our Sponsorship, Development, and Community Engagement teams and outside vendors. The Art Director oversees one direct report in the Dallas office and lends support and encouragement to Zambia based marketing colleagues to curate high-quality content.

• Represent Family Legacy in a positive, pleasant manner by providing excellent customer service at all times. Serves as a role model and adheres to Standards of Behaviors. Handles requests and concerns in a friendly, fair and impartial manner. Supports the Ministry’s mission, vision and values.
• Initiates and oversees a wide variety of integrated marketing and design projects that maintain a consistent yet innovative and robust visual style that supports and best portrays Family Legacy as a leading, elite, institutional brand in non-profit.
• Serves in a pivotal creative role and provides leadership and direct supervision to the core Brand and Communications team to help create and support strategic content and visual goals with inspired art and design direction.
• Generate clear, creative ideas and concepts in collaboration with the US and Zambian based Brand, Communication, and Marketing teams in line with brand standards and strategy.
• Obtain input from key departmental leaders to ensure that designs meet organizational standards and brand expectations, express ideas accurately, and represent the company or client appropriately on deadlines.
• Produce layouts and designs from concept to final execution for print and digital deliverables.
• Manage and delegate responsibilities to other creative contractors and brand and communication team members providing clear direction and feedback as necessary.
• Stay current on emerging cultural, technology, design and communication trends through studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes and maintain best practices
• Resolves operational and department problems and identify work process improvements
• Update and maintain internal databases for designs, photography, and video
• Meets brand and communication department cost standards by monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving actions.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor's Degree in related field (marketing, journalism, public relations, communications)
• Five (5) years graphic design, Art Director or creative director experience for non-profit, agency, ministry
• Requires demonstrated understanding and strong portfolio of graphic design, art direction, photography, video, multimedia production, and web communication
• Requires strong background, familiarity, and hands-on experience with print production and web production processes and deliverables
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically about audiences, objectives, and channels. Ability to translate brand strategies into creative storytelling and engagement campaigns across multiple media platforms
• Experience with design, typography, color, web layout design, print production, digital design, image selection, and campaign design
• Exceptional servant leader with strong project and time management skills
• Demonstrated ability to focus on big picture, execution of projects, and manage multiple deadlines
• Ministry experience in a developing country or prior mission trip experience is a plus
• Always operates with a high level of confidentiality, trust, and candor
• Highly attentive to detail in verbal and written communication with exceptional proofreading skills
• Strong interpersonal and human relation skills, incorporates feedback, gives and takes direction well
• Team player who interacts with diplomacy and tact amid influential constituents and diverse groups
• Passion for and cultural sensitivity to working with students and caregivers in developing nation
• An abiding relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with our Statement of Faith
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and fluent in Adobe Creative Suite
• Pro-active and solutions-oriented with high energy and enthusiasm
