The Director, Strategic Portfolio Management will report to the Executive Director, Strategic Realization and will be responsible for the facilitation of the yearly refresh of the environmental scan, strategic planning, and Theme based governance committees in support of the enterprise strategy. Acting as a portfolio manager, this role will ensure the success of the focus areas and initiatives that support Wellstar's strategic themes. The Director will be responsible for informing, shaping, refreshing, and advancing the system-wide strategy at the theme and underlying focus area levels.Through the Wellstar strategic framework, the Director will facilitate the development of plans around the enterprise strategic themes, translate the strategic priorities into execution and measure progress and performance at the portfolio level. To advance the work, the Director will work with senior leaders throughout the entire health system to continuously assess, analyze and evolve the strategy for the assigned themes. Primary focus will be development and oversight of strategy deployment team resources including the management of staff assigned to resources but will not be limited to only this function. The role will work with the Executive Director Strategic Realization and Director Project Management Center of Excellence on leading the escalation and issue resolution process for any at-risk projects or programs. The Director will be responsible for the direct supervision of assigned EPMO staff executing/managing projects within the assigned portfolio. This role will interact daily with other support shared service teams and leaders delivering portfolio results.

Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- 1. Provide leadership over strategic deployment resources to manage and deliver program goals/objectives. The Director is accountable for project and program management tools and process for execution including leading teams to:a. Define scope, goals and deliverables and manage changes in scopeb. Validate within the program onset the estimate for resources and participants needed to achieve program goals and key measures, including management of vendors or consultant resources c. Develop project plans and associated communications documents d. Responsible for thoroughly understanding and communicating stakeholder requirements to appropriate team members, and managing all requirements accordingly e. Establish clear ownership for project tasks, and ensure that team members have the tools needed, and provide timely feedback f. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel g. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team h. Track progress and review project tasks to assign accountability to make certain deadlines are met appropriately i. Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope j. Arrange training as needed.
- 2. Provide advisory and consultative skills to portfolio needs a. Schedule and host regular status meetings with theme governance team, theme executive sponsor and theme business lead, keeping the stakeholders needs and requirements continuously in viewb. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise program and project team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned workc. Identify potential crises and devise contingency plansd. Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the portfolioe. Assist in other operational, improvement and implementation projects, as required
- 3. Deliverable development and procurementa. Develop and deliver tools needed by team members to execute projects. b. Continually apply a performance improvement approach to portfolio management tools and resourcesc. Lead or help to create needed deliverable documents as assigned by department leadershipi. These may include draft RFPs, job descriptions, policies and procedures, presentations, story boards, organizational charts, etc.d. Facilitate policies and procedures needed to meet deliverables (contract facilitation/ management)

- Bachelor's Degree BS or BA degree required. Required
- Master's Degree Master?s degree in Business or Health Administration, or related field required Required
Required Minimum Experience
- Minimum 10 years Ten (10) years in program/project management and/or consulting required including 5 years of direct experience managing large complex and multiple projects or initiatives. Minimum 3 years formal or informal supervisory experience of either direct reports or large cross-functional project teams preferably in a health care system environment. Experience in healthcare strategy and/or portfolio management a plus. Required
