Job Description
SUMMARY
Director of Pharmacy is accountable for the overall management of all pharmacy operations, supervision of the daily activities of the staff assigned to pharmacy operations, and for all operational activities and processes designed to provide evidence-based and cost effective medication dispensing, monitoring, distribution, customer service, and appropriate patient care. Responsible for the tactical and strategic planning development, including goals with the direction aimed at improving department performance. Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts and vendor relations. Provides leadership and oversight for medication safety and security and for policy development and implementation. Ensures compliance with all Federal and State regulations, and departmental policies. Identify opportunities to improve services through the use of technology and equipment and is actively involved in departmental strategic planning, implementing cost savings strategies, and enhancing revenue opportunities. Among other oversight responsibilities are systems, information technology and project management, revising and updating operational procedures and policies, regulatory compliance, and accreditation related to pharmacy program.
Assesses the quality of services delivered and coordinates patient care services with staff, physicians, and other departments
This position reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and is characterized by having management and budgetary responsibility and control of major patient care units. Major function is independent enough with respect to daily operations that intradepartmental autonomy exists within the broader organizational context.
REQUIREMENT
- Minimum Education: Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.)
- Minimum Experience: five years of relevant experience in a Pharmacy within healthcare environment which includes three years of management-level experience.
- Required License/Certifications: Must possess State of California Pharmacist License in good standing.
MAB/ABM/CPI or equivalent within 60 days upon hire, and annual thereafter.
