Job Title: Director of Technology

Summary
Vermont Academy seeks a Director of Technology to oversee and maintain Vermont Academy’s technology infrastructure including computers, networks and systems/tools. To accomplish these tasks, the Director of Technology must work closely with the staff, administration, students as well as third party resources. This position plays an essential role at VA keeping the community connected. Strong knowledge of data and cyber-security is essential. Candidates will relish the opportunities to get involved and be a business leader. This is a full-time, twelve month position and includes the potential for housing on campus. NOT A REMOTE POSITION.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Oversees the maintenance and operation of telecommunication equipment and a wide area PC network, including all operating system software, file servers, local and wide area network data communication equipment, all peripherals, and telephone equipment.
- Strong knowledge of data and cyber-security necessary.
- Oversees the maintenance and expansion of the Academy’s web site.
- Reviews, evaluates, and recommends proposals for hardware or software acquisition.
- Manages third party IT service agreements as needed.
- Keep abreast of new technology-related information, innovative ideas, techniques, and software upgrades.
- Instruct students in the use, maintenance, and installation of Technology related hardware and software.
- Serve as program manager for all computer systems.
- Modify and maintain the Academy’s automation software and hardware systems including local area networks (LAN).
- Be available as the contact person for all technology problems and/or questions from the building technology support personnel.
- Attend Administrative meetings; member of the Crisis Response Team.
- Support the Academy, its mission, and its leadership as well as residential life by performing weekend duties in rotation.
- Actively participate in residential life aspects of the Academy with dorm duty rotation, meals, meetings, events, productions, and games.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
- Experience in small organization setting managing all aspects of Technology; Educational background preferred.
- Blackbaud platform experience strongly preferred; VA is a GoogleSuite campus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A highly energetic and enthusiastic personality, with excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as a team player.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends, as required by the position.
- Work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
- Salary is based on degrees, experience, and the contributions the candidate can make to the school
