Position Summary
The Director provides leadership in implementing prevention and response protocols to promote inclusivity, student development and success. The director is responsible for administering the college student support and critical response processes to include: oversight of the Student Code of Conduct, training, and education, reporting and analytics, and programming to support student learning and growth as members of the Prairie State College Community. The director will also lead and coordinate the college Care and crisis response efforts to include: training and education, collaboration with campus and community partners, development of support resources, protocols, and mechanisms for supporting student success. The director will be the college lead in managing the Maxient system and working to ensure its maximum potential is realized as a tool for supporting college processes and Student Success. Finally, the director is responsible for establishing student retention initiatives including administering the student appeals and withdrawal processes to ensure student learning, accountability, and implementation of restorative practices.
Reporting and Supervisory Relationships
  1. Direct reporting relationship to the Dean of Students.
  2. Supervision of Enrollment and Retention Specialist.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Supervises the Enrollment and Retention Specialist and select enrollment and retention efforts of the College (e.g., community outreach, early alert, mid-term reporting, etc.) as well as supervise student workers and interns
  2. Develop and coordinate the implementation of proactive measures which encourage a better understanding of, and compliance with, the Student Code of Conduct by students, staff and faculty. Collaborate with various departments across campus to educate the campus community on the Student Code of Conduct.
  3. Establish collaborative relationships with campus constituents to facilitate an integrated response in support of Students experiencing disruption in their academic experience due to physical or mental health concerns or a crisis situation.

  5. Coordinates and participates in student outreach efforts.
  6. Serve as a primary point of contact for institutional community members to report students of concern. Provide case management functions including collecting, evaluating, and tracking confidential student information; communicating with campus partners as appropriate, administering policies and procedures, and monitoring students for follow up actions and interventions as necessary. Serves as a member of the college Threat Assessment (CARE) Team.
  7. Serve as the student conduct designee: conduct disciplinary hearings, assign, track, and log conduct cases and outcomes for students through the Maxient system. Lead the annual Community Standards/Code of Conduct revision committee, update and publish student handbook, conduct on-going review of manuals for Community Standards consistency. Manage and maintain judicial software database package, train staff on utilization, and generate statistical analysis, reports and publications.
  8. Provide case management support to students in jeopardy of suspension for conduct-related behavior. Maintain regular follow-up contact with these students to facilitate increased community engagement and encourage positive choices.
  9. Assists with implementation of the College's progress reporting and early alert system; manage processes and best practices of the system.
  10. Serves as the College benefits liaison.
  11. Develops a working knowledge of College policies, procedures, academic programsand services.
  12. Builds and maintains positive relationships with faculty and other College personnel to assist with enrollment, retention, referral, and information services provided to students.
  13. Designs, develops, and implements student enrollment, outreach and retention activities and programs.
  14. Develops, assesses, and maintains records of enrollment and retention initiatives and reports.
  15. Uses software and databases specific to position (such as CRM, Colleague, QLess, etc.
  16. Represents the College at various outreaching community events (i.e. fairs, parades, open houses, etc.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned for the betterment of the College and its students, consistent with the role of this position.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to life, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Master's Degree
  2. A minimum of three years in a higher education setting.
  3. Familiarity with federal laws and regulations for post-secondary learning.
  4. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated skills in leadership and collaboration.
  6. Excellent organizational, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  7. Ability to work effectively with a broad constituency and relate well with diverse students and staff.
  8. High ethical and professional standards and a commitment to service.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Full-time experience working with community college students.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  3. Three years of experience supervising full-time employees.
  4. Experience creating/ delivering student success initiatives and interventions.
  5. Experience making data-driven decisions to support student success and retention

Anticipated Work Hours and Days
Monday -Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Salary
minimum starting-$55,139; Salary commensurate with experience
