Position Summary
Manages reception team, assists in counseling on student accounts, financial aid and payment options. Oversees SFS retention efforts and processes Student Financial aid budget appeals. Review applicant material in the hiring process when filling open positions
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists with coordinating the counseling of all students in all aspects of paying their account balance. This includes applying for and receiving financial aid, establishing payment arrangements and making payment on the account balance through the various methods available to students.
2. Assists with coordinating and processing financial aid estimates, billing, service holds removal and financial aid awards.
3. Manages the FASAP (Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress) and Merit SAP processes and communications to students.
4. Assists Associate Director of Counseling with processing FAFSA and other financial aid appeals including outreach to students.
5. Participates in the retention efforts for students. Represents the Student Financial Services Department on appropriate committees related to student retention. Coordinates and assists in the retention outreach from the Student Financial Services Office.
6. First point of contact to manage escalated customer services cases.
7. Assists in coordinating outreach to new and continuing students related to all SFS services including, but not limited to new student awarding, retention, account balance collection and satisfactory academic progress. This includes coordination and processing group and mass email correspondence.
8. Oversees reception area of the Student Financial Services Office. This includes communicating job expectations, assigning and directing work, training staff, monitoring traffic, and evaluating staff performance. Assures students, parents and staff are receiving excellent customer service.
9. Heads committee on Student Financial aid budget appeals.
10. Shares responsibility for the SAIC Financial Literacy program with all other departmental directors
11. Hires, trains and supervises new staff members.
12. Assists in the development of written policies and procedures.
13. Assists in completion of federal, state and institutional reports.
14. Serves on committees within the institution as necessary.
15. Attends SAIC functions including Admissions recruiting and other SAIC events. Some weekends and travel.
16. Attends workshops and conferences within the field.
17. Performs other duties as necessary.

Qualifications
Bachelors Degree, Supervisory Experience and 2-3 Years of Financial Aid Experience Required. PeopleSoft experience preferred. Excellent communication and customer support skills. Strong knowledge of Financial Aid awarding systems and processing greatly preferred.
