Duties and Responsibilities

The Director ofIntercultural and Student Leadership Development is responsible for holistically developing and engaging all North Park’s diverse student body. This person mentors and empowers students to lead, plan, and coordinate student activities programs on campus that will enrich and enhance the student’s overall experience, self-direction, teamwork, and leadership, integrating diverse students into North Park’s beloved community. The Director will supervise student organizations and facilitate meetings and partnerships that will further improve students’ engagement, belonging, and intercultural development on campus.

  • Collaboratively oversees the operational function of the shared space located in Sohlberg Hall.
  • Serve as Student Government Association advisor, supporting it by focusing on goal setting, Leadership Development, financial management, team building, and transition planning.
  • Develop and oversee policies and procedures related to registered student organizations (RSO), including the updating and maintenance of the RSO Handbook.
  • Leads student organizations by providing Leadership Development and registered student organization advisor training based on student affairs best practices and Student development theory.
  • Provide fiscal oversight and training for students and RSOs, including budget development, financial management, risk management, and event planning.
  • Manage the campus student engagement platform, NPUEngage
  • Oversees a student-led Campus Activities Board.
  • Develop vision, strategy and assessment of Student Leadership and intercultural development among students.
  • Hire, train and supervise direct reports, including student workers.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Possess a clear understanding and personal commitment to North Park University’s mission of Christian higher education.
  • Sensitivity to multicultural and gender issues and support for diverse and underrepresented populations.
  • Familiarity with best practices at Minority Serving and Hispanic Serving Institutions
  • The ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, administrators, faculty and staff members, and outside constituencies.
  • Be customer friendly and hospitable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Driver’s License required
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as required

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and with others, and to be proactive.
  • Comfortable with using new technology.
