Position: Director of Sales
Location: Behind the Scenes (on-site)
Reports to: CEO and President
Salary: $110,000 + Commission
Schedule: 40-45 Hours per week
Experience: 3-5 Years in Event Sales experience, and two years' proven track record in leading teams.
BTS Company Overview: This position is with a large well-established hospitality company; a progressive and diverse company that has been serving the corporate, social, and production industry for over 35 years. The company is headquartered in San Diego, California and services large corporations, private clients, major sporting events (including the Super Bowl, Farmers Insurance Open, Rose Bowl, and the Olympics), news broadcast companies including NBC, venues, concert tours, corporate marketing tours, and large-scale events throughout the globe.
Job Duties:
The Director of Sales requires a dynamic and energetic sales professional, that has at least 5 years' experience in the catering and event industry. The candidate should be comfortable establishing and cultivating relationships with new and existing clientele and show a passion for their work. Finally, the Director of Sales position will be the leader of our diverse sales team and will need to be comfortable managing and motivating various BTS staff and accompanying personalities.
Sales Management
Employee responsible for leading the sales efforts and sales team members in the solicitation of
new business including outside cold sales calls, internal/existing client service, responding to client
inquiries, and the management and maintenance of existing company client base. Job duties may
include preparing event proposals, menu plans, attending walk throughs and regular
correspondence with BTS clients. Coordination of event details including vendor management (i.e.
rental equipment, florals, entertainment, labor requirements etc.), efficiently transferring event
knowledge to operational team within format and guidelines set forth.
- Ensure Effective Communication Between Sales and All Other Departments
- Manage and Lead the Sales Team in Achieving Individual and Company Wide Goals
- Establish, Nurture, Develop and Enhance all Client Relationships
- Assist in Securing New Leads and Developing Business for Sales Team.
- Ensure Proper Follow Up with Clients Before and After Events
- Grow Sales by Ensuring Inquiries and Leads are Responded to in an Enthusiastic and Timely Manner
- Manage the Day to Day Responsibilities of all Sales Team Members
- Ensure Comprehensive Files are Maintained for Client Management
- Manage Event Production to Include Proposal Writing, Menu Development, Equipment and Logistics, Floor Plans, and Catering Software System Data Management
Sales Leadership
- Develop Sales Plans and Strategies to Support Company Goals and Objectives
- Coach, Mentor and Train All Team Members
- Develop Prospecting and New Business Development Strategies
- Host informal weekly check-ins with Sales Managers utilizing one in one time to coach and give
Marketing
- Work Collaboratively with Marketing to Drive Business Growth and Establish Social Media Presence
- Develop Short and Long Range Plans that Support the Brand and the Product
- Network by Joining Associations and becoming Involved in the Business and Neighborhood Communities.
Operations
- Attend Events as Required and Needed
- Work Collaboratively with Service and Operations Teams to ensure we are providing the Highest Level of Customer Service and Developing a Culture of No Clients Should Be a One Time Client.
- Work Collaboratively with Culinary Team in the Development of Quality, Creativity and Timely Presentations of Food for Tastings, Client Gifts and Proposals
Financial
- Work with Leadership Team to Create Sales Revenue Plans and Goals
- Drive Profitability
- Develop Reporting Structure for Sales, Profitability, Budgets in Conjunction with
- CFO/Accounting
- Manage Individual Sales Expense Budgets
- Partner with Accounting Department to Ensure Compilation of Accurate Final Billing and Collection of Account Receivables
Administrative
- Partner with Human Resources in Creating Employee Life-Cycle Training Initiatives
- Implement Policies and Procedures to Establish Solid Infrastructure for Growth
- Maintain an Exemplary Level of Confidentiality when Dealing with Sensitive Issues
- Develop a Holistic Understanding of the Company Vision
- Perform Other Relevant Duties as Required.
On-Site at Events
Employee may need to attend client events if appropriate and liaise between client changes and
requests and company's operations staff or make proper introductions between client and Event Manager to ensure a smooth transition between sales and operations and overall client satisfaction. Employee may be required to participate in on-site event management preparation and supervision at party/event site from time to time, however this is the exception, and will be at the discretion of the BTS Managing Director/President.
Special Projects
Employee from time to time may be asked to work or assist on Special Large-Scale projects (i.e.
Miramar Airshow, Rose Bowl Game, 3 Day Walk) which may include administrative tasks, client service tasks, on site event management, or other associated duties associated with the project.
Often these special projects result in a performance bonus payment in addition to the employee's base salary, however, this additional compensation is not guaranteed or implied.
