Director Of Safety & Security

We are looking for a Director of Safety and Security to join our team at Greyhound, a FlixBus subsidiary. In this role, you will own the overall responsibility for the safety of passengers and employees of the company. You’ll proactively develop, implement, and promote a positive safety culture which recognizes and rewards safe behaviors and safe work practices while providing coaching and feedback for unsafe practices, providing functional and administrative leadership to the safety team.

Your Tasks – Paint the world green

• Create a culture that is focused on safety in every location, collaborating closely with operational and functional leadership regarding behavioral safety and organizational policies and practices.
• Provides safety related content, subject matter expertise and assistance to the Training Department in development of training and instruction programs for new drivers, in-service drivers, and other employees.
• Create, implement, and update department policies and procedures as appropriate to promote, maintain and ensure effective operational safety in the workplace.
• Direct cost-control efforts to achieve financial objectives by preparing budgets, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective action.
• Act as ranking company representative in dealing with government agencies on safety and health matters affecting the company.
• Direct the investigations of serious incidents, reviewing accident investigation findings, root cause analysis, company accident statistics and determining preventability to correct and implement.
• Establish target areas and long-range accident prevention and cost-control objectives.

Your Profile – Ready to hop on board

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Safety, Engineering, Business or Transportation.
• 10+ years of experience in a safety leadership role, ideally in the transportation industry.
• 5+ years working with and applying OSHA and DOT regulations.
• 5+ years managing, designing, and implementing safety programs.
• Ability to influence the culture of an organization.
• Demonstrated leadership, negotiating skills and the ability to lead change, implement solutions, and sustain results.
• Ability to deliver results and contribute to business decision making, thereby enhancing individual and functional credibility.
