Description:
The Health and Safety Director is responsible for coordinating, leading, implementing and supporting the pipeline and facility safety programs across company operations. Implements and enhances the training program for operations personnel. Will interface with all levels of company employees and will develop and implement plans and processes that meet critical safety, compliance, training, and business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with operations team and managers to provide oversite and continuous improvement to Company health and safety.
- Maintain health and safety records and prepare various reports for assigned facilities.
- Provide organized documentation and reports on all safety related incidents and participate in and support compliance audits as needed.
- Prepare for / attend / respond to regulatory agency inspections, concerns, findings, etc.
- Monitor and facilitate closure of all action items resulting from audits, internal reviews, incident investigations and PHA recommendations.
- Participate in process hazard analysis, incident investigations and project reviews.
- Provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure compliance, safe work practices and continued improvement of Company Health and Safety Manual.
- Participate in the development and ongoing improvement of EHS training programs including coordination of employee training within Learning Management System.
- Supporting interface with regulatory agencies, first responders and third parties, as needed, on safety compliance and enforcement issues.
- Responsible for Emergency Action Plan and H2S Contingency Plans. Schedules annual mock drills with personnel and local emergency authorities.
- Manage contractor safety evaluation process and make recommendations to Managers & Supervisors as necessary.
- Manage Respiratory Protection Program and assist with training and facilitate medical evaluations as necessary.
- Educate personnel on PSM program aspects including MOC and PSSR usage, hazard recognition and analysis, RCFA’s.
- Manage and facilitate new employee safety training plans including respiratory protection, H2S awareness, confined space, etc.
- Other duties as necessary
Requirements:
- Knowledgeable in application of process/personnel safety requirements and practices and environmental regulatory awareness including OSHA, PSM and DOT, as well as H2S regulations/requirements.
- Possess a practical understanding of oil and gas pipeline, compression and treating facilities operations, maintenance, and repair.
- 5+ years’ experience within EHS with direct experience working for an oil and gas pipeline or midstream owner/operating company.
- Direct experience with PSM and H2S and respiratory protection programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically MS Work, Excel and Outlook as well as with compliance management and computer-based learning management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; history of effective communication in difficult or high stress situations.
- Strong leadership skills; acting as subject matter expert for problem-solving and analysis.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, deal with interruptions and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and growth- oriented environment.
