University of Washington Alumni and Stakeholder Engagement has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Resource Development. This is a full-time permanent position.
The Director of Resource Development (DRD) leads and oversees University Advancement's Office of Alumni and Stakeholder Engagement (ASE) discreet RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT programs and initiatives supporting the independent UW Alumni Association and UW Retirement Association. This program includes affinity, sponsorship, business development, advertising, and other real and in-kind resource generation and retention forms. This position is responsible for acquiring, managing, and retaining key corporate and community partnerships and sponsorships, emphasizing measurable resource production, performance, and impact increases. The Director leads and supervises two full-time professional staff team members, including oversight and implementation of strategy, personnel, budget, and assessment for their department.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for UWAA Marketing & Communications, the Director is a Program Leadership Team (PLT) member and a significant producer of revenue and resources for Alumni and Stakeholder Engagement. The Director is a creative collaborator with excellent communication and sales skills and deep experience in strategy and implementation of revenue-based initiatives. The DRD will devise program strategies, direct staff and teams, and drive initiatives that identify, secure, and steward external and internal strategic relationships and partnerships to generate revenue, manage operating expenses, and enhance the brand. The Director functions internally within the strategy and decision-making executive environment as well as with marketing/communications and programming/engagement; externally, they directly and independently interact with major corporate partners and business leaders as well as with key contacts across UW units and departments. The Director will actively coordinate and collaborate with the UW's central Strategic Partnerships team to ensure internal and external alignment to support UW's public mission.
What You Will Do:
• Develop and implement a resource program strategy to increase self-generated revenue related to the organization's strategic plan, including goals and initiatives supporting the development and acquisition of new sponsors and partners and retaining and stewardship of existing ones.
• In partnership with ASE executive leadership, develop an annual RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT plan, including specific revenue goals and objectives.
• Explore and create new lines of revenue connected to existing and unrealized UWAA engagement programs (Alumni Tours, publications, alumni and student programs, lectures, etc.).
• Work closely with unit leadership to build an annual framework and timeline for the annual Resource Development program's marketing and promotional schedule to plan and coordinate all contractual partnership efforts.
• Develop a deep understanding of partners' brands, goals, and sponsorship objectives to ensure creative and collaborative programs and campaigns.
• Work closely with ASE and Advancement Finance staff to coordinate contracts and agreements; prepare budget models, forecasts, pro forma statements, and other financial documentation.
Provide strategy and direction to develop and produce pitch materials, reports, and summaries.
• Oversee a team of two RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT staff and directly supervises the Associate Director, Sponsorship, and Business Development, in addition to any contractors.
• Structure a new RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT team, from overall program strategy and development to hiring and team building.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five to six years of experience in business development/sponsorship/marketing or related field.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

• Workload and times may vary, including occasional evenings or weekends.
• Able to travel out-of-state up to six times per year for events scheduled on evenings, weekends, and potentially on or near holidays.
