Job Summary:
The Overnight Painter Supervisor is responsible for coordinating large and small painting projects and supervising/instructing other team members of the painting dept. While this position is primarily a hands-on job, the person in this position is also responsible for developing, implementing, and documenting operational best practices.


As Overnight Painter Supervisor, you will:
  • Document and plan projects through either lists or work orders.
  • Make sure team has tasks and projects each night
  • Apply paint to surfaces including canvas, walls, floors, and doors.
  • Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, and other finishes.
  • Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
  • Clean walls to ensure proper adherence.
  • Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
  • Calculate amounts of required materials for painting projects.
  • Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
  • Minor sheetrock repair as needed.
  • Erect scaffolding, movable and immovable staging, and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas; moves furniture and equipment as necessary.
  • Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.
  • Select and buy paint from vendors.
  • Apply several coats according to paint directions.
  • Tape off areas when needed.
  • Apply touchups or second coats.
  • Remove paint splatters when finished.
  • Clean up all equipment, including brushes and spray guns.
  • Utilize spray guns for large jobs.
  • Work on ladders to reach high ceilings or walls.
  • Communicates and fosters teamwork with other Kemper Departments to ensure agreements are successfully managed, opportunities are maximized, and customer’s expectations are exceeded.
  • Functions well under stress, maintaining composure and reflecting a professional demeanor.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required; proactive communication skills are a requisite for establishing and maintaining tenant confidence.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of all company and department policies.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices related to customer service and tenant relations.
  • Uses logic in problem solving to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions.
  • Able to complete projects on time and on budget.
  • Ability to analyze things that need to be changed, and then implement change in a sensitive, effective, and legally sound manner, sharing or giving credit to others when appropriate.
  • Must be able to respond to all managers requests in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:
· Due to the nature of this work, candidates with 100% loss of sight, hearing ability, or with major speech impediments will not be considered. Eligibility determination of candidates with a less severe disability will be made on an individual basis.
· Incumbents must be able to function under stress and be able to work odd hours when required or needed.
· Work involves running to emergencies on occasion, the ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs, walking and/or standing for several hours, using ladders to reach high walls or ceilings, talking, hearing, smelling, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. Periodically, the employee in this classification will be required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Normal color vision is required, as well as close vision, distance vision, night vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Painters must be able to identify and differentiate between subtle differences in color of paints.
· The employee may be required to push, lift, and/or carry up to 75lbs.
· The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud in some areas of the portfolio.
· Employees will be outside in all kinds of weather.
· Should be able to stay physically active for many hours because they spend most of the day standing with their arms extended.
· The employee will be required to climb on and use ladders.
Qualifications:
· High School Graduate or GED Certification and proof therefore required. Work experience may be substituted for college on a semester for six months basis.
· Minimum 3-4 years of residential or commercial painting experience required.
· Proficient English reading, writing skills and verbal communication are required.
· Must possess a valid Driver’s License with no major or continuing driving offenses that demonstrate a lack of concern for safety in the last 5 years.


Successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal background check and drug screen. We adhere to Federal Law. Cannabis is included in the drug screen.
