Director of Recreation
At Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui, there is no room for ordinary in anything we do. As Director of Recreation, you will develop and manage all recreational activities & special events within the resort with a keen focus on quality, luxury, creativity, innovation, presentation, guest expectations, local authenticity and global trends. Recreational activities will include both daily/weekly events as well as special events (holidays, festive, spring break, seasonal programming etc.)

What you will be doing:
- Drive our ongoing hotel transformation, ensuring our offerings are maintained at the highest level of consistency in product, service, quality, authenticity to place, luxury standards and innovation.
- Ensure our brand, Hawaiian culture & values are aligned with and incorporated into our Beach & Pool operations, offerings and resort activities
- Develop relationships within the community and other hotel departments.
- Build and maintain a strong team through recruitment, training, development, mentorship and organization.
- Develop & oversee comprehensive action plans to steadily increase colleague engagement, financial performance, guest satisfaction and brand standard compliance.
- Manage Beach & Pool colleague’s productivity & payroll based on annual budgeted standards through the use of our labor management systems.
- Maintain the safety and sanitation of the department areas in adherence to local Health Department and EcoSure standards
- Manage revenue opportunities including but not limited to Cabana / Day Pass rentals, retail sales & special events in all outdoor areas of the operation.
- Control all guest supplies & linen inventories while maintaining budgeted cost of sales.
- Regularly verify Beach & Pool equipment is in good working order, properly utilized and well maintained
- Create annual capital budget including but not limited to equipment replacement/upgrades, par level maintenance and projects related to our outdoor spaces (operating supplies & equipment, furniture, etc).
- Partner with our procurement team to ensure we are maximizing pricing opportunities and establish controls through the receiving process for supplier accountability and quality of goods received
- Commit to Planet 21 initiatives by creating and implementing programs to reduce the Beach & Pool operation’s environmental impact.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting & capital planning.
Your experience, skills and certifications include:
- Experience with Ocean Safety & DLNR Policies and Procedures.
- Two (2) years minimum of prior leadership of a team of 20 + colleagues as an asset.
- Proven track record with demonstrated ability to build and maintain a strong team through recruitment, training, development, mentorship and organization.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Point of Sale, Social Media Outlets & Guest Review Platform applications.
- Proven abilities in attaining targets in all key measurements relating to financial performance, guest satisfaction, colleague engagement and brand standard compliance.
- TB Clearance.
- Food Safety Certification or ServSafe Certification
