We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation. This senior leadership role plays a pivotal part in the administration and direction of our comprehensive parks and recreation system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead department operations and staff management, ensuring compliance with policies, goals, and objectives.
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability.
- Mentor and coach staff members to foster their professional growth and development.
- Position the department as a leading authority and innovator in parks and recreation.
- Act as a key intermediary among departmental leaders, facilitating strategic planning and operational management.

The ideal candidate must have a flexible approach to work schedules, understanding the demands of the role may require attendance at events or meetings during evenings, weekends, and occasionally holidays. Job Qualifications – Education, experience, and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. - Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Leisure Studies or a related field required.
- Additional job experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
- Additional job-related advanced degrees or certifications may be considered in lieu of experience.
- Supervisory experience required.
- CPR certification and training in First Aid required.
- Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
