Position Details
- Develops and implements a comprehensive communications program for the Libraries that elevates awareness of library services, resources, programs, and initiatives, among key audiences and stakeholders(internal and external) through the strategic and creative use of a variety of communication and Marketing channels.
- Directs the Rutgers University Libraries (RUL) marketing and communications program.
- Serves as the primary person for developing formal, system-wide communications spanning four campuses – Camden, New Brunswick, Newark, and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS).
- Produces Libraries publications and communications in all media formats
- Creates and distributes content that provides news and information about the libraries and its programs.
- Supervises the work of the Libraries’ Senior Web Content Specialist to ensure consistent and appropriate messaging across platforms.
- Manages vendor relationships and expenses for marketing and promotion items and major publications.
- Recruits, hires, and manages full time and student employees in accordance with University policies and negotiated contracts.
- Contributes in the strategic advancement of the libraries by serving on the library leadership team.

- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates appropriate skill, comprehensive knowledge, and understanding, of promotions, marketing, public relations, writing, editing, and project management.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
- Possesses and demonstrates excellent communication skills, and strong computer literacy knowledge to include standard industry software.
- Experience in strategic communications/social media, website content development in the higher education, libraries, or publishing industries.
- Experience using software and platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Sprout Social or other social media management tool, Mailchimp, WordPress and Drupal platform.
