POSITION DETAILS
Xplore is hiring the Director of BD to expand commercial and government customers, partnerships, and contracts. This is an individual producer role that reports to Xplore's CEO and interacts with Xplore's team members.
Due to the required frequent interactions with the Xplore Senior Management Team, this role is located at Xplore in Redmond Washington with travel as necessary.
Primary responsibilities will encompass identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships, tapping into novel commercial opportunities, and driving revenue growth. A combination of deep industry insights, strong networking abilities, and a visionary approach will be crucial for steering Xplore to become a prominent player in the space sector.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an ability to work with minimal supervision while being responsive and flexible within the framework of an agile space start-up.
Requirements
Must be local to Xplore in Redmond, Washington.
Must be a current U.S. citizen or current lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
10+ years of demonstrated experience in Business Development within the defense and space industry.
Proven track record of demonstrated experience driving growth and delivering results in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
Demonstrated experience with the entire capture process, from opportunity identification through proposal development and negotiation.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop business cases and assess market trends.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent contacts with data buyers in the commercial, government and NGO sectors.
Responsibilities for this role include:
Develop and lead the execution of the Business Development strategy for commercial, government and NGO customers.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in both domestic and international markets.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers within the industry, including government agencies and prime contractors.
Lead proposal development efforts and oversee the entire capture process, working closely with the technical team to develop solutions that meet customer needs.
Develop and manage the Business Development budget, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently to maximize ROI.
Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to inform decision-making and identify new areas for growth.
Build and manage a high-performing Business Development team, providing mentorship and coaching to ensure their success.
Top Priorities to be Accomplished During the First Six Months:
Expand customer base and deliver MOUs with defined value from 10+ new customers. Specific sector targets include precision agriculture and environmental monitoring.
Move existing customer base from MOUs to commercial contracts ready for data delivery post-launch.
Expand and maintain relationships with existing customers.
Work with data distribution partners on pre-launch marketing of Xplore's data types.
Engage customers for pilot programs using Xplore's edge computing capabilities for their business.
COMPENSATION
The base salary range for this role is $180K-$200K
Bonus available based on performance

Health Care Plan
Employees (and their families) can be covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. The HSA qualified plan is for full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week.
Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
Full time employees earn PTO at a rate of 1.33 days per month. There are a minimum of 13 paid holidays each year for full-time employees.
