Director of Academic Business Office
Salary: $81,126 - $91,267

Reports to: Associate Vice President of Instruction
The Director of the Academic Business Office (ABO) is responsible for overseeing and managing the Academic Business operations of Olympic College. The role includes financial and operational management, as well as assisting with strategic planning, analysis and reporting to support the academic mission of the institution. The ABO additionally serves as a vital link between the college functional areas of Human Resources, Business Office, Payroll, and Instruction. This position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
Essential Functions
  • Supervise and train staff of the Academic Business Operations;
  • Act as liaison between instructional divisions and other campus units;
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that align with the academic mission of the institution;
  • Assure compliance with fiscal policies and procedures;
  • Provide support for faculty workload, fiscal management, recruiting, and professional development;
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Academic Business operations staff;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal/external stakeholders, including other campus units and vendors;
  • Oversee the implementation of ctcLink academic technology solutions and ensure they are integrated with academic operations and financial systems.
  • Work with the College Business Office on a timeline for budget development
  • Coordinate with unit, division, and department leadership in the development and preparation of the operating budgets;
  • Make recommendations for changes or refinement in budgeting areas;
  • Work collaboratively with academic leaders and faculty to develop strategic plans that support the academic mission of the institution.
  • Monitor and manage the budget of the instruction unit, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and efficiently;
  • Conduct financial analysis and reporting, identifying areas for improvement in revenue and cost management;
  • Work with divisions to develop and execute the budget;
  • Initiate and develop fiscal management reports as required for effective accounting and management practices;
  • Coordinate with business services to actively manage the unit budget.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor on HR matters, fostering effective working relationships with division leadership, managers, and employees;
  • Collaborate with division leadership to align HR initiatives with the division's goals and objectives.
  • Partner with instruction leadership and HR to facilitate transactions as needed
  • Work with Payroll on faculty contracts and payment issues
  • Assist with the development of better onboarding practices for the unit
  • Partner with the Center for the Center for Learning Innovation to identify learning and development opportunities to support the unit mission in alignment with the college's overall professional development strategy;
  • Track sabbatical.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance, or closely related field.
  • OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in financial management, with increasing responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, budget management, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with academic technology solutions and financial systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a higher education or educational institution.
  • Knowledge of ctcLink or Peoplesoft FSCM pillar

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday. The salary for this position is $81,126 - $91,267 annually, which includes a generous benefits package that includes the following.
