Job description

Position Summary:

Historic, visionary institution seeks a team player who is interested in joining a dynamic, fast-paced team and building a career in nonprofit fundraising, events, and operations. The Development and Events Coordinator is responsible for supporting the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation’s fundraising activities and its events and programs, which promote President Kennedy’s legacy at the local, national, and global levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the fundraising efforts and logistics execution for the Foundation’s largest annual fundraising event, the Profile in Courage Award Gala. Responsibilities include drafting and tracking solicitations, budget tracking, vendor and guest communication, list management, benefits fulfillment, and other duties assigned.
  • Coordinate stewardship efforts, inclusive of: Overseeing contribution acknowledgement cycle and implementing sponsorship benefits; Maintaining donor and prospect lists for receipt of Foundation and department communications; Collecting program impact data and drafting reports; Producing the Foundation’s Annual Report, and more.
  • Coordinate a robust suite of Development and Foundation events to cultivate and steward the Library and Foundation’s constituencies. Events include, but are not limited to, major programs; hospitality associated with Kennedy Library Forums, the Friends of the Hemingway Collection, the New Frontier Network, and other initiatives as assigned.
  • Ensure the highest integrity of records, data, and contributions processing, inclusive of: Working closely with the Development Assistant, who enters and maintains donation records, to ensure compliance with Foundation and fundraising best practices; Tracking activity and correspondence, optimizing reporting and systems, and performing and overseeing data entry in the department’s database, Salesforce; Reconciling information with the Finance department; Developing, updating, and maintaining departmental processes and documentation, and more.
  • Advance the revenue generating functions of the Development Department, including prospect research and brief development, drafting and designing appeal material, and more.
  • Arrange quarterly meetings for the Board of Directors’ Development Committee, and provide onboarding, stewardship, and annual meeting support for the Board of Advisors
  • Assist with additional special projects and perform other duties, including department administrative work, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Passion for President Kennedy’s legacy of leadership, innovation, inclusivity, and civic engagement.
  • Must possess superb attention to detail and organizational skills, along with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ideal candidate has a strong work ethic and is comfortable working in a fast-paced and demanding environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to exercise discretion and tact, as this position often interacts with Board members, fundraising committee members, donors, vendors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar fundraising database preferred; willingness and ability to learn new software and technologies is critical.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills required in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s degree and prior experience in an office setting required, experience in fundraising preferred.
  • Ability to work occasional extended hours and early morning, evening, and weekend hours for events and committee and Board meetings.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds with or without accommodation.

The Foundation currently has a hybrid work environment, and this position is required to be in the office 2-3 days per week (subject to change).
