Position Summary:
The company is seeking a skilled individual to fill the role of a Design Engineer. This position involves developing innovative mechanical subsystem designs for both new and existing products. The Design Engineer will work within our R&D Department and collaborate with various teams to ensure product integrity and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities:
Creative Design Development:
- Develop creative mechanical subsystem designs that meet product requirements and cost targets.
Drawing Generation:
- Generate drawings with functional dimensioning, GD&T, and ASME Y14.5 compliance.
Analysis and Quality Assurance:
- Conduct statistical tolerance stack analyses and develop quality assurance plans.
- Perform accurate sub-system analyses independently using tools such as FEA, Motion, CFD, or similar software.
Change Management and Test Planning:
- Process change orders through the PLM system and determine part dispositions.
- Create logical test plans, collaborate with Test Technicians, and analyze test data.
Design Optimization and Intellectual Property:
- Initiate design for manufacturability reviews, propose cost-saving methods, and evaluate inspection data.
- Manage Intellectual Property through patent searches, applications, and trade studies.
Technical Support and Safety Compliance:
- Provide technical assistance to various departments and adhere to safety protocols.
- Actively engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
Travel:
- Occasionally travel as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- Level I: 1-3 years' experience, Level II: 3-7 years' experience, Level III: 8+ years' experience.
- Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, for creating parametric solid models and associated drawings.
- Experience with PLM systems, preferably Agile.
- Capability in performing moderately complex analyses such as FEA, kinematic and dynamic motion, CFD, and heat transfer.
- Familiarity with GD&T symbology, standard inspection methods, and tolerance stack analyses.
- Practical experience with manufacturing methods, mechanical assembly, and problem-solving.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
