The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 (min - midpoint). New hires typically start between the range minimum and midpoint based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Who You Are
The FRC and FTC teams seek an experienced Senior Project Engineer, Game Design located in or willing to relocate to the Southern New Hampshire Area. The position is hybrid with regular time spent in office. We are looking for someone who enjoys leading teams in conceptualizing, designing, iterating, and supporting the entire game development process. With Gracious Professionalism® our ideal candidate will manage and foster collaboration with individuals, teams, internal cross-functional teams, and volunteers in the seamless integration of the technical and creative aspects of each year’s Game Design.

FIRST headquarters is in Manchester, New Hampshire, although this role will have the flexibility to work remote, we are looking for candidates who can easily and frequently travel by car to our headquarters during competition season (November – May) or as needed for in-person events.

What You Will Do
Serve as the primary point of contact for Program Directors and Engineering Managers, ensuring clear game requirements documentation and leading project/team design meetings. Additionally, you will: 

  • Create concept sketches, drawings, and 3D models of playing field elements and robots; assist engineering team with prototyping field elements and robots for each season's game. 
  • Implement effective systems for identifying, tracking, and documenting project issues and resolutions, facilitating escalation when necessary, and proactively mitigating risks
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of the Game Design process, decisions, and iterations, ensuring clarity and accessibility for all stakeholders
  • Address and resolve issues that may arise during game-play and competitions, ensuring a smooth and successful experience
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain up-to date financial records, track project expenses, identify potential budgetary risks, provide recommendations, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Utilize project management tools establish clear project timelines, assign responsibilities to team members, and set deliverable deadlines
  • Regularly evaluate project performance against established goals and objectives, analyze and report on key performance indicators and metrics, and recommend improvements and corrections as needed
  • Contribute to development of best practices, standardized project management methodologies, and process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and overall project success
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is easily accessible to key stakeholders

What We Expect
Strong leadership and team management skills. We are also seeking candidates with the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • BA/BS in engineering related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years directly related experience
  • At least 2 years Project Management experience with a successful track record of managing projects from initiation to completion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate project performance and suggest improvements
  • Experience with FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition, or similar program
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 including SharePoint and Teams
  • Flexibility to travel 10 - 15% depending on the time of year
