A prominent firearms company and manufacturer of a wide range of ammo, optics, suppressors, and training products is currently seeking a Design Engineer to develop innovative mechanical subsystem designs for new and legacy firearms and weapons products.

The Compensation
- $80,000 - $130,000 Annual Base Salary Range Commensurate with Experience Plus $10,000 Sign-On Bonus and 9% Annual Bonus

The Role
- Develop creative mechanical subsystem designs meeting product requirements and cost targets.
- Generate drawings with functional dimensioning, appropriate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and ASME Y14.5 compliance.
- Perform statistical tolerance stack analyses and identify quality assurance plans.
- Independently conduct accurate sub-system analyses using tools including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Motion, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and/or other software.
- Process change orders through the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and determine part dispositions.
- Create logical test plans, work with Test Technicians, and analyze test data.
- Initiate design for manufacturability reviews, propose cost reduction methods, and evaluate inspection data.
- Manage Intellectual Property through patent searches, applications, and trade studies.
- Provide technical assistance to other departments, follow safety procedures, and actively engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to firearm handling and range safety procedures.
The Background Profile
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of engineering experience related to new, full-cycle product development
- 1-8+ years of related design experience with firearms or weapons
- Strong Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) skillset and familiarity with standard inspection methods
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create parametric solid models and associated drawings preferably with SolidWorks
- Prior experience with a PLM system such as Agile
- Ability to perform moderately complex analyses such as FEA, kinematic and dynamic motion, CFD, and/or heat transfer
- Adept at generating clear, fully dimensioned, ASME Y14.5 compliant drawings of complex parts using logical datum structures and functional dimensioning schemes
- Competent in completing complex tolerance stack analyses using tolerance stack software
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods including machining, metal injection molding, plastic injection molding, stamping/fine blanking, extrusion, forging and casting, material selection, heat treatment, and coatings
- Available to work 100% onsite based at the Exeter, NH facility with occasional travel as required
- Ability to pass full pre-employment ATF drug test and background screening
