Position Overview
Core Spaces is a multidisciplinary developer focusing on purpose built student housing & build to rent homes. We are looking for a Design Coordinator to join our Chicago design team that has a minimum of 5 years of experience working for an interior design, architecture or related design firm. The project coordinator will support & assist directors & multi-disciplinary teams, both internal & external, to define, develop and execute design solutions for projects across the US.
The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of design and the project lifecycle. They should be highly organized, have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as a knack for organizing processes. The Design Coordinator will work on a variety of projects at different stages of development from future projects to ones currently under development. Given this variety, the ability to work with competing priorities, prioritize and handle a number of concurrent projects and tasks is key. Design coordinators must possess good collaboration skills, the ability to communicate and comprehend design direction quickly and efficiently, and be able to work well in a team environment. The most critical requirements are a passion for what they do and a desire to learn, grow and make meaningful contributions to the built environment.
What You Will Do
- Work with the internal design team to refine processes as well as ideate systems & efficiencies.
- Gain an intimate understanding of the real estate industry
- Work with some of the best and brightest in the design industry across the US.
- Have a notable & tangible effect on the built environment across multiple asset types in cities around the country
- Organize, monitor & maintain ongoing standards documentation, details and best practices
- Coordinate internal & external teams to maintain project deliverables, schedules & approvals in tandem with directors.
- Assist internal design team with storyboards, space plan implementation & specifications.
- Attend project sites & coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants
- Occasional travel may be necessary as needed
- Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by management
- Must be able to complete all physical requirements of this role with or without a reasonable accommodation
Ideally, you'll have
- Bachelor's degree in interior design or architecture
- Minimum 3 years experience
- Proficiency in: Revit, AutoCAD; Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP & excel
- A knack for organization and structure, strong verbal and visual communication, phenomenal people skills and deep understanding of how a project moves from conception to delivery
You'll crush it if you have experience with
- Have experience in student housing, hospitality and/or multi-family, renovations or remodels
