MINIMUM PAY RATE: $55,288.07 annually

POSITION SUMMARY

The Instructional Design and Accessibility Coordinator (IDAC) provides direct supervision to the Instructional Design team and student workers. As an active member of the team, the IDAC will work with faculty and staff in the planning, development, support, and evaluation of online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses that are of high quality and incorporate best practices in adult learning theory, accessibility, and copyright law. Assists faculty, staff, and students with use of the colleges Learning Management System and supported software and tools. Creates and provides training opportunities and step-by-step guides and other documentation for faculty, staff, and students. The IDAC will possess a positive attitude toward their work, the college’s mission, lifelong learning, collaboration, and quality service.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervise, mentor, and assign work to Instructional Design team and department student workers ensuring assigned work is completed accurately and that all department and institutional policies are followed. Provide day-to-day supervision of Instructional Design activities within the iCampus department.

2. Work in collaboration with the library, disability services, and other departments across the college to provide input and direction on accessibility, copyright, and related topics to the Instructional Design team, faculty/staff, and others during the course Design and teaching processes.

3. Collaborate with faculty in the planning, design, development, and management of distance education course instruction using the college’s online course design guidelines, adult learning theory, and rubrics.

4. Develop and provide training opportunities to assist faculty in learning, practicing, and developing pedagogical theory and skills related to web-based instruction and technology.

5. Create reference materials (help documents, how-to guides, videos, courses, and other similar items) that prepare faculty, staff, and students to use the college’s Learning Management System and related technologies.

6. Support software provided by third-party vendors and publishers, and others which integrate with the college’s Learning Management System and other tools and systems.

7. Serve as a system administrator for the college’s Learning Management System (LMS).

8. Perform distance education course reviews per department guidelines.

9. Provide assistance and technical support to faculty, staff, and students utilizing the college’s Learning Management System and related technologies.

10. Research and improve distance learning delivery methods through a strong commitment to continuous professional growth in areas of educational technologies. Remain current in industry trends and related technology. Participate in regular professional development opportunities.

11. Develop reports and answer information requests from college offices that require data found within the Learning Management System.

12. Recommend, promote, and support appropriate uses of technology for online learning.

13. Communicate all pertinent information regarding online course reviews, LMS and other software and tools, technical problems, and general concerns to the Director of iCampus.

14. Serve on committees as needed.

15. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, distance learning, educational technology, or related field.

2. Experience working with web technologies and/or learning management systems.

3. Experience training, and working collaboratively with higher-education faculty.

4. Knowledge of distance learning technologies, intellectual property laws, and software applications for authoring (e.g. SnagIt, Panopto, Captivate, Articulate, etc.).

5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including written correspondence, correct grammar in writing and speaking, phone communication skills, creativity, self-motivation, problem solving, sense of humor, and positive/professional attitude.

6. Must work effectively with diverse groups including students, administrators, faculty, staff, and outside entities.

7. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, distance learning, educational technology or related field.

2. Experience with Quality Matters workshops and/or course review process.

3. Three (3) plus years of online teaching experience at the post-secondary level.

4. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.

5. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
