About the role:
The Design Assistant - Men's will work hand in hand with the Design Director, and interfaces with the Merchandising & Product Development Team to help facilitate the execution of products in all product categories for multiple seasons. Additionally, this role will be responsible for working with the Wholesale Team to create design assets for multiple presentations involving style/ color variations, graphic artwork, and communicating effectively with cross functional teams involved. The ideal candidate has an eye for design/ print design, keen attention to detail, and is creatively talented. The Design Assistant is organized and hardworking will have the ability to perform all functions of the job both quickly and efficiently. The opportunity to work with the Design Team to meet seasonal deadlines will further enhance the experience.
What you'll do:
Wholesale asset creation - Research market trends, create presentation materials, mood boards, custom graphics, building tech packs, entering design assets etc. as communicated by the Design Director.
Develop and commercialize print and other graphic art for custom Wholesale needs (Work with Freelance Print Designer as needed)
Manage communications between design, merchandising and production teams and initiate pass-off meetings with oversight from Design Director
Review graphic art submits, trim, etc on wholesale accounts with Design Director
Assist Men's Design team with Lab dip/trim requests, tech pack creation as well as some administrative duties relating to organization of samples, submits and materials
Assist Men's Design team to prepare design boards and all collateral assets for sketch reviews and meetings
Assist in researching and monitor the consumer and competitive marketplace to identify opportunities, attend trade shows and offsite comp shop trips.
Assist in trend forecasting, color palette development
Manage creation of physical color palettes to be disseminated to cross functional teams
Attend fit sessions with the Team, capture/organize notes from discussions, make revisions to sketches, and updates to style BOM's - As needed.
Contribute positively to team dynamic
Manage and maintain assets in PLM system
Manage and maintain seasonal style color CAD library
Perform other related duties as assigned
While not anticipated, travel and off hours vendor interaction may be required
What you'll bring:
BA Degree from a college/university in the field of Design, Apparel Design, or Graphic Design
2+ years of experience in Graphic & Print Design with a emphasis on Apparel Design preferred
Computer proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite especially Illustrator and Photoshop, Google applications (Presentations, Sheets, Docs etc.), PLM systems experience a plus
Skilled in core design competencies: drawing and sketching, the ability to visualize in 2D
Basic knowledge of sportswear, knits and wovens a plus
Understanding of product construction
Developing fashion radar and color sensibility
Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as well as strong organizational skills with a sense of prioritization & attention to detail
You are a self-starter capable of operating semi-autonomously but always collaboratively
You are a team player who is not afraid to take on additional assignments that appear above or beneath you
You are positive, optimistic and possess an open-minded approach
