Job Summary:
The Database and Systems Administrator is responsible for a wide range of activities related to technology support such as maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware and software systems. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
This position will focus heavily on identity management and task automation along with specialized support of Banner and Argos Reporting. The qualified candidate will have experience in business process automation, shell scripting, SQL, PHP, application deployment, and Active Directory administration including GPO management.
Additionally, this position: Resolves hardware or software problems in response to user questions and requests for assistance by diagnosing the source of malfunctions, recommending corrective actions, and/or consulting with appropriate staff or vendor. Installs, configures, upgrades, or replaces computer hardware and software for users. Evaluates and makes recommendations for necessary adjustments to applications to satisfy user requirements. Provides recommendations on the purchase of user hardware and software. Assists in planning, preparation, and conducting seminars on software, hardware, network or other computer related topics. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary range $42,000-$45,000 depending on experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of the limitations and use of server and desktop hardware and software. Knowledge of current application software packages and programming concepts. Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and rectify software and hardware problems. Ability to analyze computer specifications and apply programming logic.
The qualified candidate will have industry experience in the following technologies: Microsoft Azure AD, Powershell or Bash scripting, on-premise Active Directory, Microsoft Server 2016 and above, virtualization platforms such as VMware or HyperV, Group Policy and other software deployment methods, Windows 10 administration, Microsoft Office, basic LAN/WLAN networking including DHCP and DNS, knowledgebase and ticketing systems.
Required Education and Experience
- Post-secondary degree or industry certificates
- Two years’ experience in a desktop support role
- Two years’ experience in server administration
