Data Engineer

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Cercano Management LLC (“Cercano”) is a newly formed SEC-registered investment manager focused on ultra-high net worth clients and the entities associated with those clients, such as a family foundation. Cercano is based in Bellevue, WA, with offices in Minneapolis, MN, and Singapore. Cercano invests globally for its clients, commonly operating as the family office Chief Investment Officer. The team has extensive experience in direct investing in all stages of venture capital, private equity, private credit, and public equities on a global basis.

Cercano offers services for all aspects of a client’s assets or family office. The team also has experience working with clients who have significant investments in non-financial assets on a global scale, such as fine art, professional sports teams, entertainment properties, intellectual property, commercial real estate, farmland, and personal residential estates.

POSITION MISSION

This position will be responsible for two primary functions including 1) improving, maintaining, and promoting the organization’s data infrastructure and design and 2) system integrations and automated process flows. The successful candidate will lead the end-user community to become more advanced and self-supporting owners of consumer data. The position will work closely with the finance, operations, and investment teams to provide a best-in-class design of the data platform and integration points with third- party applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Partner closely with teams across the organization to support initiatives and data-driven decision making.
• Gather requirements, consult and guide stakeholders around best-practices in building modern data solutions.
• Evolve the continual design of the data framework with the goal of providing a state-of-the-art reporting environment to service the needs of end users.
• Engage with teams to provide the most accurate and relevant information to help drive meaningful business decisions.
• Analyze structured and unstructured data sets from a variety of sources.
• Partner directly with the business teams to propose, define, implement and track new solutions and technologies.
• Lead the technical and architectural direction of data infrastructure.
• Develop ELT/ETL workflows in support of data warehouse updates.
• Design, document, and manage enterprise data models and processes.
• Instill a data governance program that creates business value from corporate data while adhering to applicable compliance requirements.
• Partner with third-party application providers to integrate systems and data.

• Ability to communicate effectively and establish credibility with technical and non-technical stakeholders including executive leaders.
• Ability to influence and lead others who are not necessarily direct reports.

Knowledge, experience, skill, and/or ability

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data modeling/advanced business analytics.
• Knowledge of database management best practices and system controls/security/integrations.
• Experience with system integrations utilizing SFTP and API based transfer mechanisms.
• ETL and pipeline development in Azure Data Factory Data modeling, SQL Server Administration, SQL query and DAX skills.
• Experience with source control systems (Git, Azure DevOps, SVN).
• Experience with Data Warehouse development in an Azure cloud environment.
• Experience with one or more programming languages and EDLs (Python, JavaScript, C#, Microsoft Power Apps, Microsoft Visual Studio, etc.).
• Proficiency in Power BI development (Power Query) and administering Power BI Service a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) a plus.
• Strong documentation skills and tendencies.

Education/experience/certifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or other related disciplines.

SALARY RANGE:  $104,000 - $155,800

SALARY DETAILS:

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including, and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity. Our discretionary bonus program is in addition to the base compensation range listed above.
