Health Benefits Associates is a health insurance brokerage with four offices throughout Northern Nevada (Reno, Carson City, Fernley, and Sparks) and one in California (Truckee).

Our team educates clients on their health insurance options and shops every insurance carrier in our region to find the best coverage at the most affordable price to suit our customers’ needs. We specialize in Medicare, small business health insurance, and individual and family plans.

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-oriented individual to join our Carson City team as a Customer Service Representative. You will primarily work out of our Carson City office but will be expected to commute to our Reno location 2-3 days per week for training and team building.

As a Customer Service representative for Health Benefits Associates, you will act as the liaison between our clientele and our team of licensed insurance agents. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping others and has excellent communication skills.

What you can expect in the Customer Service Representative role at Health Benefits Associates:

• Greet and assist clients/visitors in the office.
• Answer and direct incoming phone calls from clients and partners.
• Provide administrative support primarily to your direct supervisor but occasionally to other licensed agents.
• Build benefit illustrations through an online quoting platform, communicate with insurance companies, and generate reports.
• Organize and schedule appointments and meetings, as well as calling appointments to confirm.
• Carry out administrative duties for the office to include but not limited to filing, copying, binding, scanning, ordering supplies, maintaining office tidiness, and sending client thank you cards.
• Input client data into a Customer Relationship Management system. You will maintain confidentiality.
• Assist in processing enrollments and terminations for group clients and sending confirmation to the appropriate broker.
• Help organize and plan for specific events our office hosts.
• Participate in regular performance reviews.

Benefits and Retirement Package

Starting Salary: $17-$23/ hour based on education and experience.

Benefits and Retirement Packages:

Health Benefits Associates offers medical, dental, and vision effective the first of the month following 60 days of employment. The company contributes 70% towards employee’s premium. If you elect an HSA compatible plan, Health Benefits Associates will match up to $1,000 of your contribution. (subject to change)

You will be eligible for our 401K, Life and Disability following 6 months of employment. Health Benefits Associates will match up to the first 6% of your 401K contribution.

Skills and Experience:

• Fluent in English, bilingual in Spanish is a plus
• Proven experience in Customer Service or related field is a plus
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and general computer use
• Experience with CRM databases is preferred, but not required
• Ability to learn new online systems (training provided)
• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred but not required

This position has been the starting position for the most successful brokers in our office. Many Customer Service Representatives eventually get licensed and end up selling insurance after they’re comfortable with the business, if they choose to do so. We encourage all employees to grow here, and we do not limit the amount you can earn in this organization for sales positions.
