Primary Purpose:
Responsible for collaborating with teachers, curriculum leaders, and administrators to lead the effective implementation of state curriculum standards and alignment to the District and school vision, mission, and goals; implementing strategies to achieve those objectives; developing and conducting training classes on curriculum design and instructional strategies; maintaining curriculum training resource materials and equipment; providing input and recommendations regarding curriculum planning and professional development; facilitates the review and selection of textbook selection; and providing input/insight on ways to improve teachers’ instructional techniques.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree from an accredited university with a major in an assigned subject.
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation.
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness.
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners.
Strong communicator, with exceptional interpersonal skills, able to relate one-to-one and in groups with confidence.
Ability to provide critical and constructive feedback to effect immediate change.
Analytical, able to interpret data and collaborate with teachers on how to use data to impact instruction.
Ability to model research-based teaching strategies.
A problem-solver, able to prioritize multiple scenarios.
Self-starter, flexible, and able to adapt and adjust quickly to changing situations and needs.
Experience:
5-7 years of proven successful teaching experience demonstrated by a track record of success in increasing student achievement.
Leadership experience at the campus or district level.
Knowledge and experience in curriculum design and implementation.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instruction and Program Management
- Work cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs in the assigned subject area.
- Coordinate reviewing, developing, and revising all subject area programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans.
- Oversee testing programs for the assigned subject area and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
- Coordinate the ordering and use of departmental instructional aids and materials for the assigned subject area.
- Evaluate the curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for the assigned subject area based on evaluative findings (including student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed.
- Maintain a resource library of publications, supplementary materials, and supplies relevant to the assigned subject area.
- Participate in the development, preparation, and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment, and facilities in the area of assignment.
- Work with staff to develop curriculum and instructional guides to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment.
- Utilize appropriate software to manipulate and disaggregate data and provide campus personnel with proper analysis.
Staff Development
- Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in the designated subject areas.
- Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in the area assigned.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in the classroom.
Assessment:
- Develops and administers formative assessments that are aligned with the district curriculum and state
standards that provide data on the effectiveness of instructional programs.
- Provides district and campus timely formative assessment results.
- Collaborates with campus staff to use data results to plan future instruction.
- Uses student data results to determine PD needs for district, campus, and teachers.
Other
- Convey information to parents and community members about school programs.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
