  • The range provided is based on cost of living/geography and what we believe is reasonable in the market at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for annual bonus and annual merit increase, as well as long term compensation. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors.

How You'll Perform the Role


This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Forestry Program to ensure compliance to various forestry standards and to meet the Novolex customers’ sustainability goals related to forestry. This position will report to the Director of Quality and Food Safety and take guidance from and work collaboratively with the Forestry Management Leadership Team.

  • Lead and support initiatives which promote and sustain the Novolex Forestry Program within and outside of the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and manage procedures, record keeping methods and associated processes to meet compliance requirements for multiple forestry programs.
  • Maintain compliance with Novolex Quality Systems related to document control, record keeping, corrective action and internal audits.
  • Manage Forestry claims processes and work with associates in multiple business units to establish and ensure the maintenance of accurate and timely claims credit tracking.
  • Work with Sourcing and Supplier Quality regarding forestry requirements for paper suppliers and paper products. Ensure suppliers and products are compliant. Communicate and resolve nonconformances.
  • Ensure an accurate forestry logo approval process and maintenance of records and act as single point of accountability for trademark accuracy.
  • Maintain documents and records in shared systems for easy access by business units and stakeholders.
  • Draft policies and required documents such as product group lists, self-declarations and sustainable forestry policy for review and approval by the Forestry Management Lead Team.
  • Ensure documents are maintained and up to date.
  • Conduct internal and external audits. Lead the certification audit process and address nonconformances to the program and systems that may result from the audits.
  • Assess the program and standards and analyze data regularly to improve the program. Present ideas and findings to the Forestry Management Lead Team for feedback and agreement. Implement improvements.
  • Consider short-term and long-term implications related to business unit variations that will impact the forestry program. Take direction from leadership to ensure Novolex can maintain compliance while working with variation.
  • Develop and conduct training.
  • Work collaboratively with manufacturing facilities’ local management and quality team to ensure programs are implemented at the plants.
  • Respond to sales and customer requests for information, capabilities, surveys, and compliance related to the Forestry Program.

What We Need From You
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of related work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with FSC, SFI and PEFC Forestry Programs.
  • Experience with quality systems, including ISO, food safety, or other compliance programs is a plus.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong reading comprehension, listening, verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Team player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships with hourly employees, management, and peers.
  • Must possess a high degree of professionalism while working with outside organizations and customers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, understand requirements of complex processes, analyze data, present ideas, and listen to feedback.
  • Ability to work from home, flexible hours, including weekends when required.
  • Strong ability to plan, prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and auditing skills required.
  • Critical decision maker with the ability to work independently.
  • Must have experience in a manufacturing environment and be comfortable on the plant floor or in an office environment.
  • This is a home based role with travel.
  • Ability to travel as required to meet the job requirements, may be up to 70%.
