Summary
Responsible for the accounting operation for the San Antonio, TX main entity. This includes compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and SOX/group internal control requirements, reporting to VP of Finance. The position blends broad-based accounting skills and experience with specific expertise in controllership, analysis, and the audit process, ideally in manufacturing environment, leading a staff of seven in general accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts, Receivable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, and other specific projects assigned by VP of Finance.
Essential Functions
• Accounting and Reporting
o Responsible for the monthly close including the accuracy and timely preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
o Responsible for the analysis of financial results to plan and forecasts. Presentation of the results to management.
• Tax
o Manage US effective tax rate.
o Advise management of changes in tax laws in various jurisdictions and the effect of the changes on the Company.
o Supervise the preparation of the federal income tax return and the various state income, property, and sales tax returns.
• Audit
o Manage financial audit by external auditors, including overall planning, PBC item assignment and response, and fee negotiations.
o Manage Accounting function-related SOX activities and requirements, responding to the inquiries from internal auditor and parent company internal control group.
o Ensure proper internal controls are in place to safeguard the assets of the company.
•Budget and Forecast
o Lead the annual departmental/P&L budgeting processes.
o Manage the Company cash flow forecast.
o Review the location/departmental spending and provide with analysis/forecast as needed.
• Financial closing, Analysis and Reporting
o Ensure the timely monthly/quarterly/annual financial closing, ensuring the accuracy of the entity financials.
o Ensure the appropriateness of all accrual and reserve accounts.
o Conduct full account reconciliation in both P/L and B/S, at least on a quarterly basis.
o Prepare the monthly financial presentation/report to management.
• Supervisory
o Supervise a team of seven professionals that comprise the accounting department for this location: AP, AR, GL, FA, etc.
o Planning, assigning, and directing departmental tasks to each team members, including their performance review and disciplining.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to achieve results by the deadline in a complex and multi-tasking environment.
• Excellent technical knowledge in accounting, budgeting and the audit process.
• Knowledge of US Income & Sales Use taxes
• Excellent team leadership and communication skills.

• Knowledge of Quality Systems.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration.
• MBA in Finance and Accounting a plus.
• CPA certification required.
• CMA certification a plus.
• Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in accounting- in a combination of public and industry. Experience involving manufacturing and international operations a plus.
