Responsibilities
Mentor and develop Level I & II accounting staff. Review & Approval of Work supervision of accounting staff; not a hierarch reporting relationship. Works independently to drive to and achieve month end close, audit or tax per deadlines, audit and/or tax assignments without supervision. Team lead on special projects or as assigned.

Design, perform and supervise/sign off on General Ledger account (currency and statistical) reconciliations on Balance Sheet, Statement of Operations General Ledger accounts comprised of standard cover page, support documentation and referenced work papers with related adjusting journal entries in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) within deadlines per various accounting close calendars.

Review and supervise routine or recurring period (monthly, quarterly, annual) journal entries with financial supporting schedules and documentation while maintaining accuracy, internal controls and protocols.

Advanced level understanding of Cone Health operational business units and the concept of inter-company transactions. Participate in Consolidation of published financial statements or special reporting groups with inter-company elimination work papers and journal entries.

Advanced level of financial and performance ratios, performance benchmarks. Capable of recognizing variances outside normal parameters and conducting independent investigations to conclusion and reporting.

Team lead on annual audit and tax. May participate in special audits.

Preparation of complex special reports and/or other managerial assignments in general accounting, audit, budget and/or tax as assigned.

Advanced actual to budget variance investigations with ability to clearly explain variances in written and oral communication adjusted to the level of understanding of the customer.

Advanced knowledge of the financial computer systems including but not limited to Lawson, Hyperion, Kaufmann Hall, Kronos, ESSBASE and Microsoft Office products as they relate to all financial and statistical module data (general ledger, budget, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, materials, inventory, fixed assets, revenue and other) and serve as a resource to others in their understanding of transaction processing and reporting from these systems.

Maintains protection and security of Cone Health assets by following Internal Controls. Team lead on preparation of documentation of accounting policy and procedures to ensure compliance to all federal and state regulatory guidelines. Capable of researching accounting standards and applying to Cone Health policy and procedures.

EDUCATION: Bachelors, Required, Preferred in Accounting
Bachelor of Art or Science in accounting, finance or closely related field with minimum of 15 credit hours core accounting courses (5) including Accounting I and II, Intermediate Accounting I & II plus 1 course in audit, tax, cost or other advanced course from an accredited university.
Preferred: Four-year degree with major in accounting.
EXPERIENCE: Required:
-Bachelor's degree, but not an accounting major: six years of recent full time work experience in an accounting role; or
BS/BA with accounting major with active CPA: three years accounting experience
Preferred:
-Healthcare accounting or healthcare audit experience
-Public accounting CPA firm work experience in audit or tax
-Experience with Hyperion, ESSbase
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: REQUIRED
