POSITION TITLE:Coordinator I - IB Academics, Academies & Strategic Initiatives
REPORTS TO: Superintendent and/or their designee
SUPERVISES: Staff within their department/discipline; certified and non-certified
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience or Training
Masters degree; Valid Type 09, 10 or 73 Illinois Teaching Certificatewith endorsement(s) in area of discipline; Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)/Type 75 Certificate; General Supervisory Endorsement; broad knowledge of his/her discipline and its relationship to the whole school; a minimum of five (5) years teaching experience in his/her discipline; demonstrated understanding of and compliance with District policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Preferred Experience or Training
Previous supervisory experience
Experience teaching at the secondary level
Capacity to work effectively with others and to motivate others to excel in fulfilling their responsibilities
Ability in public speaking and effective writing
Documentable leadership ability
Ability to make critical evaluations of suggestions for improving the quality of education in his/her discipline
Knowledge and experience pertaining to his/her entire discipline
Be articulate

Assist in long- and short-range planning of the program for their department; assist in curriculum development, personnel supervision, and administration of the department; understand and provide guidance in implementing District policies, procedures, and guidelines.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Director of IB Academics, Academies and Strategic Initiatives
• Lead strategic planning and management of district-wide programs and initiatives.
• Lead strategies/programs for the implementation of the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Career-related Programmes and create strategies related to setting and achieving district goals within these programs.
• Conceptualize, implement, direct and manage engagement initiatives that enhance and support district-wide programs.
• Provide regular updates and recommendations on critical initiatives and projects to the Board of Education.
• Assist stakeholders in project management, implementation and assist in developing and refining policies and procedures.
• Plan and monitor program budgets.
• Review and approve all professional learning requests.
• Establish metrics and measures to evaluate goal completion.
• Provide guidance and direction to staff.
• Participate in the interview and selection process of the instructional staff as appropriate.
• Coordinate the Teacher Induction Program and district orientation programs and activities of new teachers and administrators.
• Supervise and evaluate district staff, as outlined in the District Organizational Chart.
• Counsel principals and teachers on matters of district-wide concerns in order to help them improve their effectiveness.
• Cooperate with administrative and supervisory personnel on the overall education program.
• Recommend a budget to the Superintendent to meet the objectives of this office and operate within the budget.
• Attend and actively participate in professional association meetings and conferences at the local, county, state, and national levels.
• Promote and participate in the public relations program, including the District website and web pages.
• Serve on/lead district-wide committees as needed.
• Keep the Superintendent fully informed of significant matters pertaining to the administration of the schools and consult freely with him/her concerning such matters.
• Establish an open line of communication with the community.
* Assist with in-service professional growth of all staff as necessary.
* Compile such necessary reports as requested by the Superintendent or his/her delegated authority, consistent with the efficient and effective operation of the department.
* Implement and follow District policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Support new and existing District initiatives.
