Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Disability Services Specialist, the DSS Program Coordinator is responsible for providing the coordination of services to students with disabilities under the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. The DSS Program Coordinator supports students, faculty, the Disability Services Specialist, and the Academic Support Center team with the day-to-day duties of the Disability Services office. The DSS Program Coordinator oversees and manages testing requests, scheduling and proctoring. This position is responsible for data collection, assessment, record maintenance, assistance with case management and student registration/renewals with Disability Services.
Work Location: Both Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles) & Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles)
Start Date: Immediately

Position Hourly Range: $21.13 - $22.82
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists DSS Specialist with intake meetings, eligibility requirements, case management, and accommodation implementation
  • Ability to interpret psychological, educational and/or medical documents required for documentation of accommodation requests
  • Organizes, schedules, manages, and proctor student exams.
  • Maintains records, and process student applications on Disability Services database, and other data management systems.
  • Collaborates with other campus departments to support DSS services, and students
  • Serves as a liaison between faculty and students with disabilities
  • Collaborates with Disability Specialist, Academic Support Center Directors, Academic Coaches, Graduate Interns, and Peer Success Coaches to provide academic support and resources to students registered with Disability Services
  • Ensures equitable access for students with disabilities to classroom activities, course requirements, campus events, programs, services, and facilities
  • Serves on academic support committees and other committees as assigned
  • Assists with editing and managing the DSS website
  • Assists with DSS marketing
  • Facilitates workshops for students and the University community
  • Maintains discretion and confidentiality
  • In-person presence at both University campuses
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Attends Open House, Orientation, and other campus events as assigned to represent DSS, occasional weekends and late afternoons
  • Attends workshops, seminars and conferences for professional development

Requirements:
Knowledge:
  • Working knowledge of various disabilities and intermediate knowledge of disability laws (Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 Rehabilitation Act, and Fair Housing Act) as they pertain to higher education and students with disabilities
  • Basic knowledge of assistive technology and other support resources for students with disabilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, Canva, AIM database systems platform

Abilities and Skills:
  • Outstanding proficiency in interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, and other campus departments
  • Ability to provide excellent service to the University community: timely and consistent responsiveness to student and faculty needs
  • Advanced proficiency in listening skills, oral communication, writing and public speaking
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills
  • Ability to organize and assess data; create and write reports
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet established deadlines

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in education, psychology, counseling, social work, sociology or related field

Experience:
1-2 years years of professional experience working in higher education or educational institution
