The district's service area includes 18 cities and communities and 16 school districts. The NOCCCD campuses serve an area of over one million diverse people. The student population demographics, district-wide are: Latinx 47.2%; Asian 17.9%; White; 16.5%; African American 2.6%; Multi-Ethnicity 2.6%; Pacific Islander 0.3%; and America Indian/Alaskan Native 0.2%. The district is part of a regional higher education community that includes the California State University campuses at Fullerton and Long Beach, the University of California Irvine, and the Chapman University system.
North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE) has been serving the community since 1973 with free, noncredit educational programs and services to empower our community. Students enroll in NOCE's noncredit programs to enhance basic skills, gain employable skills, prepare for credit courses, for self-sufficiency or to enhance civic participation. Noncredit programs offered at NOCE include adult basic skills (High School Diploma and Literacy Programs), English as a Second Language (ESL), U.S. citizenship, parenting, older adults, short-term vocational, and programs for adults with disabilities.
In addition, NOCE offers a wide selection of community education courses such as Kids' College and Teen Program, fitness, home decorative arts, business skills and fine/applied arts. NOCE offers adults (18+) the opportunity to earn a high school diploma as well as nearly a dozen career education certificates. Tuition-free noncredit career certificates include the areas of administrative professional, early childhood education, electrical technology, funeral service assistant, management, medical assistant, pharmacy technician, and quality assurance for medical devices.
NOCE serves more than 15,000 students annually, ranging from preschoolers to seniors, at three Center locations in Anaheim, Cypress, and Wilshire (Fullerton) as well as over 100+ community-based locations in partnership with K12 schools, churches, community centers, senior centers, skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers. NOCE is proudly accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges. NOCE is a stand-alone institution, serving as the noncredit arm of the North Orange County Community College District, which also includes credit-based Cypress College and Fullerton College. Part of the California Community College System, all NOCE courses are approved by the state of California.

Disability Support Services (DSS) provides support to adult students with disabilities so they can successfully transition to, participate in, complete their postsecondary education at NOCE, and transition to competitive, integrated employment. The DSS office offers traditional accommodations and Support Services, plus the department has developed programs that offer additional assistance such as educational coaching, neurodiversity labs, specialized counseling, employment preparation, bus mobility training, and job development. DSS offers classes on three, in-person campuses, plus distance education. Courses are designed to help students improve their skills so that they can achieve higher level academic goals, attain jobs, and live as independently as possible.
WISE at NOCE is open to adults with disabilities who are served by Regional Center and who require a higher level of instructional support than the DSS classes.
Students receive personalized attention with a 1:4 staff-to-student ratio. They earn certificates for completing specific elements of the program. WISE offers many learning opportunities, including: Computer-assisted instruction, field trips in the community, guest speakers, lecture, class discussion, role-playing, hands-on demonstration, and small group work. Students can participate in the program for up to five years. WISE meets Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Job Description
Teach DSS classes and related courses to a diverse student population.
Teach DSS classes in the Work Independence Self Advocacy Education (WISE) program where students learn to live more independently, build employment skills, and navigate their community.
Participate in curriculum development and serve on department, division, college and district committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; participate in appropriate professional development activities.
Participate in co-curricular activities, including planning, implementing, and teaching in special programs designed to support student success.
Participate in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the Student Learning Outcomes assessment cycle.
Maintain formal office and campus hours; participate in department and division meetings.
Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g., computer software applications) as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized and timely manner.
Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities; comply with district, college and division policies in the performance of duties.
Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methodologies and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions.
Develop culturally relevant course content, culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or are students who are historically underserved. The ideal candidate should have experience in this area with African American, Latinx, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders and other disproportionately impacted students.
Work cooperatively with staff and students.
Evening and/or weekend assignments may be required as part of the regular contract.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree with any of the following majors: Education of students with specific or multiple disabilities; special education; psychology; physical education with an emphasis in adaptive physical education; communicative disorders; rehabilitation; computer-based education; other computer-related majors which include course work on adapted or assistive computer technology for students with disabilities; other majors related to providing specialized instruction or services to persons with disabilities.
OR
An associate degree with one of the majors specified above
AND
Four years of experience providing specialized instruction or services to persons in the disability category or categories being served.
Commitment to diversity. All applicants must have demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how these factors relate to the need for equity minded practices within the classroom.
Desirable Qualifications
Demonstrated success in helping students from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized racial and ethnic groups, nontraditional students, speakers of other languages, and students with disabilities.
Knowledge and competency in working with students who have disabilities with an emphasis on students who have ID/DD, ASD, ADD/ADHD, and Mental Health Disabilities.
Experience collaborating with Regional Centers, including knowledge of Federal and State requirements for programs serving individuals with ID/DD.
Knowledge pertaining to Distance Education and Universal Design for Learning.
