Coordinator of Digital Learning
Position Summary
The Coordinator is responsible for planning, delivering, and implementing a high-quality Digital Learning instructional model for integrating educational technology into grades K-12 academic programs. The Coordinator oversees the effective operation of districtwide educational technology planning for the schools, coordinated with the instructional goals of the District and campus. The Coordinator contributes to the infusion of educational technology into classrooms, libraries/media centers, and district offices by providing highly motivated, full-time, professional leadership in all technology planning and resource management areas.
The Coordinator provides leadership in identifying, assessing, and managing technology needs for the school system to the Director, Chief Technology Officer, and other stakeholders. The Coordinator will establish and oversee the implementation of a long-range plan for a focused, data-driven program to improve student achievement and engagement by implementing the district's technology plan. The Coordinator will also monitor and provide campus and district support for Digital Learning via workshops, coaching, and training supervision across the school district.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree (preferred)
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
  • Principal Certificate including ILD or AEL, and TTESS Certification
  • Certified Educational Technology Leader (CETL) certification or acquired within 1 year of the hire date.

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the field of Educational Technology, Digital Learning and Library Media, Instructional Technology, or equivalent

Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver training to student and adult learners
  • Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Demonstration of effective oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in facilitating groups and leading training sessions
  • Experience in designing and facilitating a series of interactive technology-focused workshops
  • Knowledge of current and emerging instructional technology hardware and software applications
  • Knowledge of instructional design and implementation
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Program Management
  1. In coordination with the Director and the Chief Technology Officer:
  2. Assist in the development of policies and procedures regarding technology issues;
  3. Serve as a liaison between the Teaching & Learning, and Technology Departments;
  4. Understand the district's curriculum and instruction objectives and articulate the specific ways in which Digital Learning supports instruction and
  5. Work cooperatively with the information technology and teaching and learning staff to smoothly and effectively integrate technology and online learning opportunities into the instructional environment.
  6. Serves as a positive role model and works cooperatively with others to design and promote a quality program that integrates technology into the instructional process.
  7. Supervise or coordinate the skills development of all employees in technology operations. Build awareness among employees of available resources and the role of technology in the instructional process.
  8. Lead district initiatives, collaborating across departments and functional areas that support the adoption and implementation of technology in all aspects of school business, including those that improve teaching and learning and promote 21st-century skills.
  9. Directs the District's Technology Plan's design, implementation, and maintenance to support teaching and learning.
  10. Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments in instructional technology at the state and national level.
  11. Assists in the development of policies and procedures regarding instructional technology integration.
  12. Communicates federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy in instructional technology.

Professional Development
  1. Assist teachers in designing Digital Learning experiences for students;
  2. Develop training options and improvement plans to ensure the best operation of instructional technology;
  3. Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers to pilot such efforts when appropriate;
  4. Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive staff development plan for the innovative use of Digital Learning in the classroom and
  5. Secure consultants, specialists, materials, and other resources to assist in meeting program and district goals.
  6. Provide Management, Guidance, and Technical Support:
  7. In all Digital Learning areas,
  • To Campus Technology Coach positions to ensure district Digital Learning effectiveness;
  • To principals and other district personnel in the planning, implementing, and evaluating effective Digital Learning throughout the district.
  1. Research, Evaluate, and Recommend:
  • Emerging Digital Learning strategies that complement the district's direction and purpose and
  • Hardware and software for the district educational technology program.

Professional Relationships
  1. Communicate and support expectations that are consistent with district objectives;
  2. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education, and local board policy;
  3. Demonstrate an awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs;
  4. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible;
  5. Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Boerne ISD and follow all directives from superiors;
  6. Promote a positive, caring climate for learning;
  7. Organize, facilitate, and participate in committees that develop and support district goals and
  8. Take initiative to develop professional skills and learning networks appropriate to Digital Learning.

Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands
Ability to present and communicate effectively (verbal and written); coordinate district functions and committees; manage and support educational technology staff; maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions. Frequent district and outside district travel.
