We are looking for a Controller II to join our best-in-class team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of company's financial and accounting plans, policies and procedures. Essential Duties:
- Manage input of data into the financial information systems including data entered by accounting staff and other personnel.
- Responsible for coordinating data processing, preparation of detailed monthly and quarterly financial reports including the general ledger, as well as the monthly closing of books, and the reconciliation/analysis of all accounts.
- Overall responsibility for the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, PUC rules, Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulations.
- Effective internal controls over financial reporting. Assure protection of company assets with internal controls and audits.
- Preparation of quarterly and year-end reports, PUC reports and compliance with bond indentures.
- Preparation and updates of the long-range financial plan and the Annual Operating Budget Package including variance reports.
- Preparation of year-end tax papers and package. Analyzes and coordinates the tax strategy and planning with the corporate tax department
- Completion of special projects as required by Company President, Regional Controller, Chief Accounting Officer and CFO.
- Providing other company units with the financial information required for them to carry out their assigned responsibilities (such as financial reports, analyses, metrics, etc.).
- Comparing performance with operating plans and standards, and reports and interprets the results of operations to all levels of management. Makes recommendations and provides assessments for improving the operations based on financial metrics.
- Assisting in the processing of rate applications, debt financings and other regulatory filings before the PUC. Coordinate efforts between state accounting personnel and rate department to ensure accuracy and integrity of rate filing data.
- Providing input and support for financial analysis of acquisitions and operating contracts. Performs financial due diligence activities on planned acquisitions. Integral role in potential acquisitions, including financial projections, filings with the required regulatory commissions and integration into the existing operations.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate for this position will have a Bachelor's Degree business related discipline and a thorough understanding of accounting and tax concepts.
- 5 years general finance/ accounting experience with some exposure to public utility accounting preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in an accounting environment required.
