The Role
Participates in studies to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of the program. Extracts financial data from various accounting and information systems. Performs financial and cost accounting analysis of data. Utilizes knowledge of SAP and other financial and billing systems.
The Main Responsibilities
- Assists in the analysis of financial data and extracts and defines relevant information; interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability.
- Reviews costs and performs cost benefit analysis related to projects and/or program.
- Performs statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data reported in the various financial systems.
- Develops financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
- Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verifies documents for completeness and compliance with government regulations.
- Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.
- On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on costs, and/or quality of service within the program.
- Assists in the preparation of customer proposals, develops customer budget analyses and spend plans, works closely with Program Management, Engineering and customers.
- Reviews complex financial data received from managers for inclusion in proposals and prepares information for auditors.
- Ensures compliance with internal procedures, SOX 404, GAAP and DAR/FAR regulations.
- Review, track and approve Purchase Orders in accordance within established budgets.
- Compile Estimates to Complete (ETC) and Estimates at Completion (EAC).
- Responsible for the review of contract modifications in regard to the finance implications and provide recommendations to the Contracts Department.
- Exchanges non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate requiring good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented yet able to think strategically about implications of analyses and initiatives, identify trends, and recommend improvements accordingly.
- Ability to work independently and complete responsibilities with little supervision, yet work well in team-oriented culture.
- Ability to work on critical, time sensitive issues and to keep matters confidential essential.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related discipline, and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
- Required Skills Must have a basic knowledge of the government contracting field and possess the ability to complete difficult assignments with an emphasis on problem solving.
- Must be able effectively manage assigned Program Control work on large complex projects.
- Experience in analyzing problems to determine root cause and implementation of corrective actions is required.
- Accurate written and verbal communication skills are needed in order to carry out and understand assignment and to convey or exchange routine information.
- The successful candidate must have the ability to work as a key member of a team with minimal supervision.
- Experience and understanding of GAAP principles, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) are required.
- Must possess a strong background working with multiple contract types Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Fixed Price Incentive (FPI), Fixed Price Level of Effort (FPLOE), Time and Materials (T&M), Cost Plus Award Fee (CPAF), Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF), and hybrid contracts.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$59,520 - $79,360 in these states: VA
As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
