Title:
Instrumentation & Controls EngineerUnder direct supervision, independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. With additional experience within one functional area, assists in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional types of plans, investigations and surveys with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations. Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and minimum of 2 years related experience, with typical experience ranging from 3-7 years.
The Associate I&C Engineer will work under the direct supervision of a Senior/Lead Engineer, independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard Instrumentation and Control Systems engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Assists in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional types of plans, investigations and surveys with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents.
Responsibilities:
- Work on medium or large size engineering projects with supervision.
- Prepare accurate and complete designs and calculations as required to meet project requirements.
- Conduct field investigations when needed; produce field reports with detailed sketches.
- Coordinate with other disciplines and assist engineers and/or designers to ensure effective quality product.
- Keep up to date on new engineering processes, techniques, and IMS and standards.
- Investigate and resolve unusual design and field engineering problems by devising new approaches.
- Ensure that effective methods and design/engineering techniques are used.
- Resolve project issues and problems.
- Provide technical guidance to the design team.
- Collaborate with design team to maximize design value.
- Provide employee performance feedback to discipline manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification/ Certification:
- BS degree in Control System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with 2 plus years of hands-on engineering experience strongly preferred in petrochemical, midstream or other heavy industries.
- Excellent verbal, written communication skills required.
- Knowledge of Instrument calculation computer applications.
- Ability to integrate new technologies into daily work processes
- Experience working with other disciplines understanding their interface requirements.
- Experience with design and/or construction of petrochemical and/or alternative fuels plants desirable.
- Knowledge of NEC, IEC , ISA & IEEE standards, methods and practices a plus.
Skills Requirement:
- MS Office (Must be highly proficient in Excel and Word, working knowledge in Access)
- MS Office (Excel and Word) and product proficiency required.
- Work with Intools (SPI) a plus.
