This a great opportunity with a long term, established business that is looking for an experienced Controller to join their team. Experience in the construction or HVAC industry is a plus. We currently use Computer Ease software for accounting and job costing. Full benefits packaged once hired.

Full Job Description

As the Controller you will assist in preparing statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines for the company. You will be responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping set up control systems. An effective Controller has good knowledge of accounting principles and is organized, with a great eye for detail. Must be able to identify and resolve discrepancies for the organization autonomously.

Responsibilities:

The Controller will have the ability to review and recommend best practices to improve the current processes and procedures of the financial close and other accounting workflows and will be responsible for the supervision and success of the accounting department.

In addition, this position is responsible for the following, including but not limited to:

• Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices to support the growth of the organization
• Manage journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing
• Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements
• Post / review journal entries Analyze Income Statement / Budget to actual reports and prepare variance reports Participate in preparation for the annual audit
• Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies
• Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
• Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records Skills
• Proven experience as an assistant controller or other similar position
• Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.) Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
• Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software
• Ability to prioritize critical tasks Well-organized with very good communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• BSc/BA in accounting, finance, or relevant field
• Professional certifications such as CPA is a plus
