IAV is currently seeking Mid-to-Senior level Control Systems Engineers at our North American Headquarters in Northville, Michigan. The position will be Hybrid work model with in-house work at our Northville location and remote days.
The Control Systems Engineer focuses on Hybrid and Electrification. Control Systems Engineer will support internal projects and work as a member of a team representing IAV on projects with external customers covering a wide range of applications, e.g. EV & Hybrid Systems as well as System Engineering Principles.
Essential Responsibilities & Activities:
- Develop & Coordinate Control Systems Projects with our Internal Resources, German Engineering Teams and US Test Partners. Growing IAVs local expertise, portfolio and customer base related to Hybrid and Electrified Vehicles. Understanding and Applying System Engineering Tools and Approaches.
- Review system requirements with the customer (internal & external)
- Control development, implementation, calibration and validation of new features for Hybrid System Control
- Develop algorithms and functions to control the vehicle and or related sub-systems
- Implement software functions based on requirements in model-based software[MAM(1]
- Works on specific phases of projects such as technical studies, preparation of specifications, High and Low Voltage Electrical Designs, Controls System Architectures, overall technical plans, component testing, data analysis and validation.
- Develop system level software and control using modern methods. Supports / ensures data quality and writes technical project reports.
- Plans and executes hybrid and electric vehicle research and development activities.
- Supports, organizes, and leads customer meetings.
- Change request tracking.
- Develop and implement new technologies in the area of controls and software development;
- Monitoring that internal standards and tools for controls engineering are followed, as well as developing new methods and tools, where applicable.
- Other general tasks are:
- Support planning and execution of engineering activities as directed by supervisor or senior team members.
- Support customer meetings
- Support business and strategic company development opportunities
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and build technical knowledge and ability
- Travel for purposes of test trips, training, or meetings, possibly outside the country for up to several months
- All other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with 2+ years relevant experience
- Must be able to work effectively with customers and other program staff and team members
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to complete project goal
- Must be able to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple duties/projects simultaneously
- Knowledge in High Voltage Battery Systems
- Basic knowledge with the creation and execution of test plans, test scripts, test automation, and the generation of test reports
- Basic knowledge in testing and debugging software using MIL / SIL / HIL and in prototype vehicles
- Basic knowledge of model-based development environment using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow
- Basic knowledge from taking a design from concept, to requirements, to build, to test, to production implementation
- Ability to understand complex electric and mechanical systems on vehicle level and specifically on battery level
- Ability to understand complex electric and mechanical systems on vehicle level and specifically on battery level
- Experience with 3D CAD Tools such as CATIA, ProEngineer or Siemens NX
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
- Must have excellent written communication skills
