Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to [specific location where employee is expected to report] three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business].
The Role:
This position is to coordinate and implement battery control architecture using platform strategy for non-automotive applications and advance special programs. In this role you will be responsible for wide a variety of innovative energy storage applications leveraging the automotive battery components or modified versions of components and fuel cell modules.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Synthesize energy storage system controls designs based on customer requirements, business objectives along with compliance (standards) requirements
Co-own and architect system architecture of software systems
Develop requirements for Control Systems and maintain modular design approach
Guide and approve selection of software architecture choices and strategies, supplier partner selection, and ensure smooth, on-time development of products that meet/exceed customer expectations.
Lead by example in conducting regular reviews of product capability, quality, and on-time delivery, both internally and with supplier partners.
Work cross-functionally to curate efficient technologies/solutions/components for innovative product design.
Identifies improvement opportunities in best practice documentation, publishes internal best practice documents for usage by other engineers
Technical mentoring and direction of other engineers
Analyze design through Design Failure Modes Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
Conduct incident analysis and ensures problem resolution
Engage with GM design, hardware and VDDV team as may be required
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, software, computer science or equivalent technical degree
5+ years of product development experience in battery and/or high voltage electrical systems and/or battery controls, cybersecurity, communication protocols
Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills required to effectively work with others in group situations.
Understanding of Vehicle Development Process, Software Release Process
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
High level of analytical problem-solving skills
5+ years of experience in related field
Experience with test software such as CANoe, Vehicle Spy, INCA
Knowledge of serial data communication (Ethernet, CAN, LIN, etc.)
Experience in using IBM rational tools like RTC, DOORS, RQM is plus
Understanding of system safety, cyber security, ADAS, SDV, Powertrain controls
