This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford Proving Ground three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role:
Join an enthusiastic and ground breaking team here at General Motors in Systems Engineering! As a System Integration Engineer (SIE), you will be at the forefront of GM's transformation using your creativity to influence the future of transportation! You will contribute to this change as a SIE for Vehicle Motion Controls by designing and integrating vehicle dynamics systems such as electronic all-wheel drive. You will use modeling, virtual testing, and vehicle testing to ensure GM's vehicle dynamics systems are robust, well designed, and exceed customer expectations!
What You'll Do:
Conduct Vehicle Motion Controls (VMC) feature and System Integration, such as the electronic all-wheel drive system
Run verification testing for VMC features and systems to ensure requirements are correct and complete
Support vehicle program execution by being the VMC system expert, including issue identification, data collection, and resolution.
Generate & implement feature development plans that involve modeling, Software-In-the Loop (SIL), Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) and vehicles
Support diverse teams of system engineers & feature owners in developing requirements through modeling, simulating & testing new features
Coordinate cross functionally with software, hardware, and validation teams to ensure General Motors product exceeds customer expectations
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Qualifications):
Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related engineering degree
Minimum of 2 years of post-graduation engineering experience
Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to operate test vehicles
Travels as required (5%, Occasional day trips with rare multiple overnight trip)
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Strong understanding of Vehicle Dynamics
Experience in one of the following areas: vehicle dynamics, chassis controls, calibration, software, systems engineering, vehicle integration or electrical system design
Experience with either vehicle development or virtual development (MiL, SiL, HiL, DiL)
Experience or knowledge of relevant tools (e.g.: ETAS INCA, Intrepid Vehicle Spy)
Understanding of vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition systems
Demonstrate high level of analytical ability, communication, and interpersonal skills required to build cross functional relationships to solve problems and resolve issues
Experience with performance or offroad driving
