Position Description
The Contracts Manager will primarily support the Company’s diving & construction business unit as well as support the environmental & industrial, and rail business units by working closely within operations, sales, and support group staff to lead the diving & construction day to day contracting functions. This position will also assist with the Company’s environmental & industrial, and rail service lines as well. The ideal candidate will be pro-active, solution-orientated, and demonstrate an interest in and eagerness to learn our businesses and operations and to develop professional relationships with those s/he supports.
The Contracts Manager will work within and gain valuable experience in the construction, marine, and environmental industries and will be responsible for contract intakes, repository, and database management, reviewing and advising on terms and conditions, and administering, reviewing, and approving vendor and subcontractor terms and conditions and insurance requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as dedicated contracting legal resource to Company’s diving & construction business unit, and assist with the environmental & industrial, and rail service lines as needed.
- Review bid specifications and contract terms and provide concise contract summaries that outline key terms to internal business clients.
- Work closely with the Company’s insurance brokers and Sr. Risk Manager to review commercial insurance requirements and certificates of insurance requests from clients as well as certificates from subcontractors and vendors.
- Draft, review, redline, and negotiate contracts provided by Company’s client, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Negotiate contracting terms with counterparties with the support of internal business clients.
- Oversee and manage the contracting process from starting from opportunity to execution and assist internal business clients with contract drafting, negotiations, redlines, and management including facilitating signature and delivery of surety bonds and other contract documentation.
- Create and maintain standardized subcontractor and vendor documentation including requests for proposal templates, subcontractor/vendor contracts, and project agreements and contracts for clients.
- Manage the use of Company’s contract lifecycle system and other technology to provide visibility to and ease of access to internal business clients.
- Facilitate and manage the execution, delivery, storage, and retention of Company’s contracts, surety bonds, and other contracting documentation.
Annual base compensation range for candidates in Seattle, WA: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00. Actual base compensation offered will be determined based on multiple factors which include relevant skills and experience. Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree required
Juris Doctor required
Admitted to practice law in a state preferred.
CPCM or similar designations and certifications preferred.
Experience
- 5-7 years of experience contracting for a construction or industrial contractor, including creating templates, redlining and negotiating agreements, and
- 4-6 years of experience negotiating and drafting and redlining contracts in support of construction, industrial, or related projects.
- Understanding of commercial insurances and experience reviewing and requesting certificates of insurance (COIs) and drafting COI requirements.
- 1+ years of experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and other governmental contracting regimes preferred.
- Some exposure to marine contracting preferred.
