About the position:
The Construction Laborer undertakes physical labor duties in demanding telecommunication
construction projects. Proficient in operating a range of hand tools, power tools, and small
equipment. Responsibilities may include site cleaning and preparation, trench digging,
installation of excavation supports, scaffold erection, debris cleanup, and waste removal.
Additionally, may provide assistance to other skilled workers as instructed.
What you will do:
• Utilize jackhammers, drills, and a variety of power tools for construction tasks.
• Position, assemble, align, and seal structural components, including concrete wall
sections and pipes.
• Load cement and other materials into portable mixers, and manage concrete mixing,
pouring, and spreading.
• Assist equipment operators by signaling for alignment, movement, and adjustments.
• Finish freshly poured concrete using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered finishing tools.
• Monitor and operate pumps, compressors, and generators to ensure power supply for
tools and equipment.
• Maintain machinery, equipment, and tools through lubrication, cleaning, and repair tasks.
• Operate and maintain air monitoring and sampling devices in confined or hazardous
environments.
• Construct and dismantle concrete forms using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.
• Prepare construction sites by cleaning and eliminating potential hazards.
• Perform excavation tasks such as digging ditches or trenches, backfilling, and leveling
earth to specifications.
• Handle loading, unloading, and identification of building materials, machinery, and tools
according to project plans.
• Measure, mark, and record openings and distances for construction activities.
• Interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to guide work activities.
• Transport materials and equipment from warehouse to job sites using trucks.
• Assist in excavation work by hand digging, backfilling, breaking concrete or asphalt, and
shoring underground excavations.
• Support craftsmen by delivering materials and cleaning work areas of debris.
• Control traffic around work zones as required.
Qualifications:
• Previous underground utility experience is preferred.
• Flexibility to work varying hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Have good manual dexterity and machine-controlling skills.
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, dig, and reach.
• Ability to lift, carry, and place heavy objects.
• Ability to travel to different job sites.
• Telecommunications experience is always nice but not required
