THE OPPORTUNITY

This position is responsible for creating, coaching and advancing strong volunteer-based community Affiliates that are aligned to fulfill our organizational goals and mission. Key responsibilities include successfully recruiting and developing strong volunteer leaders who will fully implement the work of the Affiliates, execute and achieve PurpleStride campaign goals, and deploy mission and advocacy initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Fundraiser in a peer-to-peer environment, personally securing and stewarding relationships to achieve financial fundraising goals.
  • Coaches, retains, and acquires PurpleStride committee members, sponsors, team captains, striders, and top fundraisers.
  • Executes market specific strategies to recruit volunteer leaders based on the needs of the Affiliate.
  • Effectively manages fully functioning volunteer-led Affiliates that meet “Purple Standard” of performance and composition.
  • Local implementation of national campaigns and priorities including national volunteer model and strategies.
  • Effectively manage and grow the 2-4 affiliates in assigned territory, serving as the lead PanCAN staff for these volunteer teams. Occasional travel to affiliates may be required, including on PanCAN PurpleStride event day.
  • Implement intentional volunteer recruitment, retention, and succession strategies that support the sustainability and growth of assigned Affiliates.
  • Ensure sustainable Affiliate development in all key areas by providing quality support to existing volunteer affiliates through onsite and remote best practices in coaching, accountability, recruitment, and organizational development. Participates in annual affiliate assessment and goal setting meeting.
  • In partnership with volunteers, responsible for establishing and achieving revenue, advocacy, and mission goals for the affiliate. Understands and employs community organization and mobilization strategies and tactics.
  • Work closely with supervisor, Regional Director, to identify emerging volunteer talent, top volunteer performers, sponsors with regional and national opportunities, and surface compelling stories that represent PanCAN mission and fundraising strengths.
  • Professionally represent the organization to diverse audiences from grassroots volunteers to corporate donors.
  • Build and develop a diverse and inclusive volunteer Affiliate that reflects the community it serves.
  • Build and develop a year-round calendar for Affiliate engagement, implemented by affiliate leaders.
  • Effectively manage time in territory to prospect for new relationships, manage existing relationships, and effectively hit all mission and revenue goals. Maintain consistent, quality and quantity of weekly outreach to constituents in assigned territory.
  • Work effectively with all constituents in assigned communities ensuring they have multi-channel and year-round opportunities to support PanCAN through monthly giving, legacy giving, and other ways to give. Work with the Development team to identify and steward mid-level and major gift donors.
  • Maintain constituent records in Raiser’s Edge for volunteers, donors and other contacts.
  • Manage budgets including event tracking of participant recruitment and fundraising revenue.
  • Follow national guidelines, processes, and procedures for PurpleStride, volunteer training and community mobilization.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:


The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position:


  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or at least 7 years’ experience in community outreach and mobilization programs, volunteer management, peer-to-peer fundraising, and development, preferably in programs that are regional in scope.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the principles and best practices of volunteer program management, and organizational management.
  • Strong background in peer-to-peer fundraising programs and strategies.
  • Demonstrable success in leading and managing teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse individuals at all organizational levels, both internal and external.
  • Demonstrated ability in effective oral and written communications.
  • A friendly, positive, outgoing, solutions-oriented demeanor and the ability to build and sustain strong relationships with staff, volunteers and donors, both face-to-face and remotely.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and analyze data and make decisions and/or recommendations as required for their markets.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and markets simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with the corporate business environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems (Raiser’s Edge preferred).
  • Knowledge of cancer advocacy, outreach and awareness programs, and grassroots marketing a plus.
  • Remote project and team management skills.
  • Must have an interest in domestic travel and be comfortable navigating new cities.


Salary Range: ($68 - $80k)
PanCAN is committed to providing fair and transparent employee pay. Our compensation policy and practices integrate years of relative experience, skills, job duties, functions, responsibilities, education, certifications, expertise, PanCAN seniority, position/title, department, market conditions, and merit, and may also include geographic location. Our base salaries range from Entry level to Experienced and max at Expert level. The base pay range included herein is specific and germane to the job/position/opening as described within this announcement.
